I sketched in the coffee table sketchbook with the Micron 05. Should have done the hat in pencil first, I just like sketching free hand so the hat is not the right size for the brim. Sigh...

The new art center will open next weekend. The Bastrop Fine Arts Guild worked on the fund raising and basis for the non-profit. The center will be called Lost Pines Art Center. I think it is absolutely wonderful and am proud they got 'er done. I do wish they had left Bastrop in the name. There are too many Lost Pines and Pine names around.
I never thought it would happen, but wow!!
There are artist studios upstairs, seven I think. There is a kitchen and there will be a coffee shop and gift shop. They kept the old silos from the original buildings and will have a sculpture building, glass/ceramics building and an apartment for visiting artists. Can you imagine? Beautiful. Congratulations to the hard work of the Guild ... now called the Lost Pines Art League.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Beautiful building! Glad they got it together to build it. Who will use the studios, or will they be for classes?
I see you've started the new hunt. I got sidetracked by Thanksgiving and then playing with alcohol inks. I'll have to get over an print out the new list.
Joan, the building is great for the community. Artists have rented the studios. There is also a teaching space. I was tempted to try to rent a studio, but since I haven't been painting, not much use. Ha.
I saw your ink on facebook. Very different! See ya on the Hunt!
that is great there is a building like that in the community. There are a few big studio buildings in Dundee with artist studios, but they are not cheap but usually always full. and I had a look, didn't think they were worth the money they want for the space you get. be better almost renting a small apartment
Jennifer Rose, it is great to have the art center. It was a group effort. I never thought they could do it and don't know how they will sustain it. Rent is probably pretty high, but you would be in the art district. Ha.
