Hunting Unicorns and Photos

I (We) are feeling somewhat better which is good because it is baseball day.  I'm pretty sure we will actually get to the game!  Woot!  (I'm not sure what that means?)

I wiped off a demo I did on a piece of Colourfix Pastel Card, 9 x 12 inches, and sketched for Scavenger Hunt 443.  I used a variety of pastels that were already on my easel from my last painting, whatever that was.

The item was U- underwear or other U item.  Well, I considered my underwear and went for another item.  Gene gave me this little stuffed unicorn and it was looking at me so....  It hangs on the wall in my studio on a bag from Columbia.  The wall is off white, but my paper was used.  This took about 30 minutes total from wipe off to photo.  It always take longer to post than to sketch.

I listened to the UT Baseball game on Tuesday night.  I listen on the internet to most of the "away" games.  They lost last weekend to UCLA and lost Tuesday night to the Texas Aggies.  Pbftttt!!  The Aggies have only lost one game this year.  There were a couple of good things for the Longhorns.  No one had scored against the Aggies in the 9th inning all year.  The score was 4-0 in favor of the Aggies in the top of the 9th.  The Longhorns caught up with a couple of doubles and walks.  So exciting.  Then in the bottom of the ninth, the first batter, the Aggie catcher, worked a full count including an extra fly ball, then hit a walk off home run to win the game.  Deflating to us Longhorn fans.  We will see what happens tonight against Tulane.  Hook 'em Horns!!!

I keep score during the games and in between innings I doodle.  This was Friday night's doodle in my travel sketchbook!

 We took the back road from Magdalena to Grants for a change of scenery.  The black lava doesn't show as much.  There is more growth of cactus and other plants now.  It is definitely rough country.

I finally remembered to show you the altitude.  It got a bit over 8,000 ft. just before this near the Great Divide .

 The narrows.  The road goes between these bluffs and the lava flow.
