Sketches Ink and Pastel

I did some sketches the last couple of days.  I sketched with the Micron 03 in the huge sketchbook and then got out my pastels for sketching today.  That felt good.  I only spent about 40 minutes on the sketch on Mi Tientes paper so it is not detailed or of finished quality.  When I first finished I wasn't sure what items I had sketched, so good luck to you.  It is growing on me so I can see the items a bit better.  Ha.  It is a sketch after all!

I am not fond of using light colored paper with pastels.  You have too much surface to cover.  I left the paper for the inside and outside of the bowls.  Good practice to get me in a painting mood.

Did you know Tony Bennett is a plein air artist?  Interesting article/video.

Good to see you sketching with your pastels!!!

Not only is Tony an artist, we have been kidding around that he should be joining us because he is an urban sketcher in our city. lol

Hi, Joan. Thanks. He should be a member of the Urban Sketchers!

I don't generally like using light coloured paper with coloured pencils, darker ooloured paper is great for getting a base tone and less paper to cover :p

can you use pastels in the toe breaking sketchbook?

I like the perspective on the sketches and the color sketch is really nice.

Jennifer Rose, Hi there! Thanks for agreeing on the dark paper. Pastels would be messy as they would fall off. There are some new fixativ products that may work. Guess I should check them out.

Thank you, Bag Blog. I "almost" feel like getting a pastel painting going.

I like your combination of colors. It feels so comfortable and close. It's mysterious how can simple things in the cold colors are felt so warm.

Sophie, thank you. Blue is interesting to work with. It usually is hard to get a photo as well, but taking photos of pastels in direct sun helps. This feels warm to me as well.
