Quick iPad Sketch to Start Hunt 422

A quick sketch on the porch this morning.  I got the list for the new Hunt  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1389044 and decided to just do a sketch on the iPad instead of looking for my sketchbook.

Number 1, herb - Rosemary from the bush by the garage.  I brought it in to smell as it is supposed to be good for the brain, memory, etc.  Pretty strong, I couldn't hack having the whole plant in the house.  I have eaten it, mostly in crackers.  I am undecided if I would like to add it to anything I cook.  The plant was a gift and looked like a little tree at Christmas.  I put it in the yard and it has continued to grow, even as a dry land bush!

I'm thinking of Enid Wood www.enidwood.com this morning.  She is hosting a mentoring pastel group in Jemez Springs, New Mexico.  I am imagining being there and enjoying the learning and the camaraderie.  Attending a workshop or mentoring for a few days is such a good way to renew your interest and lift your spirit.  It is hard work as well.

Think about attending a workshop or having an art retreat.  If you attend a workshop be sure and check with other artists about the style and teaching of the artist.  Some people are great artists but not great teachers and vice versa!  Plan to learn and try the new or different style.  Don't expect to create a masterpiece.  Relax and enjoy the experience.  You can keep any of the technique you like and discard what is not relevant or helpful to your style.  But try it!!

If you can't travel, perhaps you can arrange a retreat at home.  With or without other artists!  Just immerse yourself in art.  Try something new.  Use some videos or magazine lessons to break out of your normal routine.

Plan a bit ahead.  Do your shopping and errands ahead of time. Arrange for your spouse to fend for themselves for a couple of days.   Tell folks you are not available for phone, texting, e-mail, etc., and stick to it.   I'm planning for a couple of days soon.  I will let you know when that happens!

I imagine Enid and the other artists are in their own world for a few days!  Excellent!

We had our summer vacation, now I need to focus on what comes next!

That's an encouraging post! I saw on Pinterest a pin where an art teacher encouraged other teachers to continue to be creative even when they seem too busy. I think I need to do more with my art even though I have been busy teaching.

I coat potatoes in olive oil and sprinkle them with rosemary and put them in the oven to roast. Delicious and the house smells great afterwards.

Bag Blog, thanks! I need lots of encouragement, somehow. Your potatoes sound great. "Maybe" I will try it. Smiling.
