I thought I had finished this and posted earlier. Where did it go? Blogger usually saves, surely I didn't go off reading other blogs and never even started this! In reality, that is what happened. Sigh....
I sketched on the porch in my large "home" sketchbook. I usually get 6 sketches to a page. I just did two quick ones this morning with a Prismacolor 01 fine line pen/marker.
Number 2, green and growing - the vines on the fence in the corner.
Number 3, pretty lidded container - a blue and white butter dish from Mexico
When we were in Angel Fire, I actually baked a couple of gluten free carrot cakes. Well, I didn't have a mixer or chopper so I made them with canned pumpkin. The taste is about the same. Anyway, back to my story. I grabbed the measuring spoons. The regular recipe calls for 2 teaspoons of baking soda and I usually add some baking powder because I use less oil. It seems to help the texture, especially when gluten free. I put in two teaspoons of baking soda and reached for the 1/2 teaspoon for the baking powder.
It felt rather large, what??? I looked at the 1 teaspoon again to make sure that was what I used. I did a couple of looks before I realized that the measuring spoons had an extra spoon - 1/2 tablespoon. Huh? That would be 1 1/2 teaspoons. I wonder where the spoons came from in the rental house? I do not recall any recipe that calls for 1/2 tablespoon of anything. That would be 1 1/2 teaspoons. Very strange........... Maybe a European thing??? Here is a photo....
I usually don't measure well anyway, but these spoons were a surprise!
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Unusual spoon set. That can throw off your recipe a bit. lol
Joan, Lol is right. Could have been a mess if I hadn't noticed!
could be Canadian spoons, doesn't seem odd to me to have that in the set lol
Jennifer Rose, interesting. We spent a lot of time in Canada, guess I never cooked there!
I enjoyed the cake you baked for us. In fact, I could use that recipe sometime.
Bag Blog, I forgot to give you the recipe. Too hard to type here, from the computer I will send it. :)
Maybe our set was from somewhere else, no idea lol :)
Jennifer Rose, maybe they are from someplace else! Odd spoons.
