Water, Water, Everywhere Photos

I did not get any photos of our lakes now that they have water.  I thought you might enjoy seeing the views after the big rain.  We went to walk around the other day and our path was blocked.

This is where we start around the lakes, the spillway from the first lake flowing to the second lake.

Another view a little farther down, we didn't want to get wet so started down the path to the second lake.

You see the dock the way it was a few months ago when I sat on that bench and sketched.  The same bench now.

This was the other dock.  You can see how far the water rose.

View now, no islands or dry dirt from the edge.

All that grass was dry and yellow just a couple of weeks ago.

This is part of the spillway that was just a low, dry crossing.

As we got around past the docks toward the lower end of the lake we ran into some overflow that went out to the dam and we could not go through without getting very muddy so we turned around.  We can probably walk around today, but haven't checked.

You can see the wa they mow the path for us.  The grass on the right is about how high the grass was in our yard yesterday for mowing.  Ha.

Back at the start between the lakes, you can see the firehouse way across there.  You couldn't see the lake there before.

And a selection of wildflowers that were out and blooming nicely.  I had not seen any of those pink balls in the middle or the lilac one on the bottom middle.  Haven't looked them up yet.  Pretty, pretty.

These must be the little pink balls.

Gomphrena 'Fireworks, also known as globe amaranth, produces strong, tall stems topped with bursts of pink flowers tipped with yellow. Gomphrenas thrive in hot weather and tolerate dry soil. It is also an everlasting, meaning a flower that is dried for indoor arrangements.

The other lilac colored one is a wild butterfly pea flower that grows in Thailand. Hmmmm. It does say they grow in other places, pretty. Maybe we will see more next year.

The water and flowers look great!

Bag Blog, I have been bitten by a couple of mosquitoes. No fun. Argh.

Jennifer, yes, we are lucky to live where we do. There was much damage near the rivers in the area.

Bag Blog, our lakes are so nifty! I need to go walk around now, I'm sure we can. We do have mosquitos but have the screened in porch to enjoy the early mornings.

Thanks, Joanna. I hate the mosquito bites, mine always swell and bother for days.
