Gallery Notes and Events

April is a busy time in Bastrop.  As you know my pastel paintings hang at Art Connections Gallery in downtown Bastrop, Texas.   It is an interesting gallery, a bit on the European style with art floor to ceiling and full of a multitude of different artists, works and styles.  It calls for more than one visit.  It is just about impossible to see everything the first time.  Here are a few of my paintings that are at Art Connections now.  http://www.artconnectionsgallerybastrop.com/jo-castillo.html

 Pump House
Pastel on U-Art, 18 x 12 inches
$450.00

 Cactus Blooms, Too
Pastel on Pastelbord, 24 x 18 inches
$950.00

 Breakfast
Pastel on Pastelbord, 12 x 12 inches
$325.00

Something you may not know is that a percentage of sales, 10%, goes to charity.  Each artist picks the charity of their choice.

I have designated the Family Crisis Center here in Bastrop  http://www.family-crisis-center.org/   for my work.  The Crisis Center helps four counties and many people.  They are caring and helpful.  No one is turned away.  If their services don't fit your situation they have resources to help you find the place or persons to help you.  They work with immediate problems and have prevention services as well.  They have need of volunteers and donations, give them a call or donate on-line.

Coming up at Art Connections for April

Thursday, April 2, Gallery Talk with John B. Chandler, photographer

Friday, April 3, First Friday with John B. Chandler, photographer, featured artist.

Details can be found on the Art Connections Website at http://www.artconnectionsgallerybastrop.com/events.html

The Family Crisis Center is teaming up with the Children's Advocacy Center for their joint fundraiser on April 11.  It should be quite a night.  Details can be found here:

That's cool that a portion goes to a charity of your choice.

Lovely paintings, Jo! I'm partial to your cactus flowers...maybe because we so rarely see them here that they make me smile. Nice pieces!!!

Bag Blog, it is cool about the charity and I forget to mention it.

Joan, thank you so much. I do like cactus and they are fun to paint.
