Basic Shape Sketches and Photos

I sketched this morning in the regular sketchbook with the Micron 05 pen.  Quickly and freehand like always.  These are for Scavenger Hunt 370.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1357341

I will be the host for Hunt 370 which starts on Wednesday, August 13.  I am thinking of what to put on the list.  It has to be common everyday items that we can sketch from life.  It is fun to see what things look like in other parts of the world.

Number 11, circle - a wreath on the wall, about 10 inches tall
Number 12, square - a clock on the wall, also about 10 inches square that is a sand painting with a turquoise frame.
Number 13, triangle - always a hard shape to find for me.  This is a metal cone holding matchbooks near the stove.  The back is a flat triangle and the front is sort of cone shaped to hold whatever.
Number 14, rectangle - a painting about 16 x 20 inches near the stove.  It s a snow scene.

We have animal loungers hanging around.  There is a ground squirrel that hangs out on the woodbox out the living room window.  I sketched him the other day.

It is pretty cute, but I imagine they can chew holes in about anything like regular squirrels.  It is not a good idea to leave anything outside to attract the animals, like raccoons.  Not good.

We saw lounging deer on our walk this morning.  This is two different photos.  It was hard to keep the glare down.  They seemed to be very comfortable on the deck/porch of the house.  Evidently no one is home but the deer.  Ha.

I have paintings lounging on the floor, too.  Maybe I will paint this week.  We are having company Monday - Wednesday.  Our niece, Mary, and her sister and nephew will be here from Albuquerque.  That sounds like fun, right?

You sure have been good about blogging - unlike me. Love the animal pics.

Bag Blog, thanks. Blogging is my way of procrastinating and avoiding other things like painting!

Jo -
thanks so much for your comment and your timely visit.
I've been trying to sketch more and I've been using the Micron pens.
I use the .005, the .05 and the .03. Do you find the Micron pens a bit dry?
I've also been using the Faber Castell Pitt pens and I think they're juicer.
At any rate, I'll be checking back in for the sketching challenge and will cross post.

I also have link on one of my recent posts to one of my friends whose sketchbook is awesome!
Love the wild kingdom shots and I never see deer with antlers around here.

Mary, thanks. I like Micron, but I sketch usually on plain sketchbook paper which doesn't take too much water. I liked the Prismacolor pens, too. They call them fine line markers. I looked at the sketches by your friend, I will look again and post the link.

We haven't seen as many animals since the rain, guess they can get water anywhere and don't have to come down to the valleys.
