My First Friday Art Walk was very nice. I met some new people from Bastrop and the area. Even at 35 degrees, a few brave souls were actually walking around looking at the various art venues and visiting with the artists. Most of the visitors to Baxters on Main were coming in for dinner and the Sagittarius Birthday Party. A few artist friends including Michal Hubbard, Corporate Photography, stopped by.
I gave away the door prize at the end of the evening, a choice of a 5 x 7 original painting against glass, not framed on a little easel. There was a young lady, Olivia, five years old that registered for the prize. Gene and I thought it would be great for her to do the drawing. She reached into the bunch of tickets, felt around and pulled the winning ticket. Her mom, Tiffany, was the winner! Tiffany, a bit embarrassed at winning, let Olivia choose her painting. As Olivia was deciding between the four paintings I had there, Gene asked her how she managed to pick her mother's number. She held up her hands and closed her eyes and said, "I just closed my eyes and opened my brain and pulled my mom's number out!" She was precious.
Olivia picked this pastel for her mom:
Geraniums
Pastel on Pastelbord
7 x 5 inches
Gene and I had dinner there at Baxters after the Art Walk. Gene had prime rib and I had tilapia with green chili sauce. We shared a creme brulée. They add some pecans to the caramelized sugar. Coffee and wine. Excellent dinner!
Thanks to all of you that stopped by and Terri Knop and the great crew at Baxters on Main.

Sorry you are so chilly down there. Winter weather has really arrived up her. I was in the city yesterday all bundled up and it was cold! Sounds like it was a fun walk and the little girl sounds so cute. Love the painting she picked...a nice richness to it.
Hi Joan, we can't really complain about a cold spell, just that normally we would be 60 or so during the day. That is why we live here. I can't believe you get out so much. I really like your out and about sketches. Love seeing your area.
Love the story about the little girl's magical powers. :-)
Joanna, she was just precious. It took her a while to pick from the four paintings I had there. :)
