Is It Time to Play the Lottery? Sketching for Hunts 329 and 330

You won't believe this, we barely do.  We have been going to La Grange, Texas, to The Bugle Boy for a few years now to listen to music.  They raffled off a 1965 Thunderbird for a fund raiser.  Tickets were $25 each or five for $100 and they were selling 500 tickets.  Gene bought 5 while we were in New Mexico this summer.  Then every time we went to a show there, he would buy five more because it looked like they wouldn't sell out.  He was doing his good deed and helping the cause.  I think he bought $400 worth.  We forgot when the drawing would be.  Well, it was last night and Lane called us at the intermission of the show when they had the drawing.  Gene won the Thunderbird!  How cool is that?

I took his photo with it a month or more ago, thinking that was the last we would see of the car.  What a surprise!!  Maybe it is time to buy some lottery tickets!

Gene and his soon to be Thunderbird.
Don't forget our house concert with Byrd and Street, October 13, see sidebar.

I'm hosting Scavenger Hunt 330 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?p=19791659&posted=1#post19791659 so I hope you will join us for some sketching from life.  It is a great warm up for painting and is my homework, so I keep at it.

Hunt 329 ended on September 20 and Hunt 330 started.  I sketched in the new sketchbook with a regular ball point pen, Pilot.  They work well and seldom make blobs or roll the paper.

My third and last sketch for 329:

Number 3, nested - some tables from Peru.  We sent these to Gene's sister, Mercy, when we lived in Peru, probably about 1985 or so.  She insisted we take them back to replace ours that burned.  It didn't take much persuading.

My first Sketch for Scavenger Hunt 330.

Number 1, fan - the fan on the porch.  It was such a nice morning, we didn't have to have the fan on.  We actually got about 1.5 inches of rain Friday.  Ya-hoo!!

I got my paintings from the workshop out today so maybe I will get a post going.  I have good intentions.  Gene would say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."  Well, that's the way I am.  You realize we have known each other since we were 2 and 3 years old.  Getting close to seventy years.  Yikes!!!

Visit Richard McKinley's Pastel Pointers Blog.  It is super full of excellent advice and hints for pastelists.  Many of the techniques are good for oil painters, too.  The advice on values, color and more apply to all painting.

Have fun, but remember to come back for a visit here.

Thursday's sunrise looking at it and then the sky the opposite way and on the side of the house.  Lovely morning.  Red skies in the morning, sailors warning.  We did get rain late in the day and yesterday.

What a nice win for Gene...congratulations!!!

Those skies are beautiful...look like they are calling to be painted in pastels.

Thanks, Joan. I'm not sure why I don't paint those. One of these days....

Rae, hi there. It was such a shock. Now Gene has a car he can work on. It looks to be in great shape. We shall see.

Still very amused by the car.

The sky photos are wonderful!

Joanna, we are still undecided about the car. Maybe amused is a good description! Skies are always fascinating.
