Corn Plant and Regina

When Regina Burchett, my pastel buddy, moved back to North Carolina, she gave us a big corn plant from her living room.  We had it in our living room, but it is so big and really started spreading up and out so we moved it to our bedroom.  It seems to like the 11 foot ceiling and has just kept on rising up.

It is pretty much ignored except for watering and a couple of weeks ago when I turned it a bit  I noticed a bloom.  I never had one bloom under my care and had never thought that they would have blooms.

I thought you might like to see this, so here you are then.

The plant in the corner of our room.

The bloom when I noticed it.

The bloom today.  It leaned and went for the light.
Thanks, Regina and Larry!

Wow, I'm impressed! I never grow anything very well. Recently, I killed an airplane plant. But you have blooming corn!

Well, my gosh - it must LOVE you guys! I had it for eight years, and it never bloomed. I had no idea that they did!!! How very cool.

Bag Blog, I am not good with plants. I did have a nice corn plant in the other house but it never grew or bloomed. Who knew??

Regina, yes, the bloom is a big surprise. Very interesting. I was just getting ready to trim it a bit as it is soooo wide. Each of those tiles on the floor is a foot so it is getting near 5 feet across. Guess I will have to scoot it back in the corner up against the wall. Ha.

Joanna, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the hot summer. Did OK last year, eh?
