Sketching and Mistletoe Jam Photos

I found some time to sketch.  I don’t seem to get anything finished.  I’m blaming it on my “golden years” .  A friend of Mom Frances at 96 years of age told Gene, “This golden age is a bunch of _ _ _ _!”  I think she was right.  I wonder who came up with the idea to call these years golden.  Hmmm.

I sketched for Scavenger Hunt 294 in my brown sketchbook.

Number 4, blue - my blueberries on rice cake on a blue plate.  Number 5, toy - my iPad is my toy.

Number 6, furniture - Gene’s rocking chair.  Number 7, from a friend - the blanket is from Equador.  A friend gave it to me since she knew I would be missing our things from South America.  Sweet.  Number 8, from family - a blue sweatshirt.

I sketched with a Pilot ball point pen and added color with some Pitt Landscape pens.  These sketching pens have a brush tip.  I got them in the gift exchange at the Austin Pastel Society Christmas party last Sunday.  Karma isn’t it?  I like the pens for the Scavenger Hunts.  They came with a bamboo pencil holder.  I don’t know who gave it to me, but I thank the artist sooo much.

Threadgill's sign and such a pretty pink sunset that doesn't show much.
We went to Threadgill’s down south last week for the Mistletoe Jam. (Link goes to my post)  The performers:

Dana Cooper ∞ Elizabeth McQueen ∞ Karen Abrahams with Bradley Kopp ∞ George Ensle ∞ Byrd & Street with Richard Bowden ∞ Greg Whitfield ∞ Shelley King with Robert Cline, Jr. and other special guests!

They donated their time and the show was excellent.  Next year will be the fourth annual Jam.  We will be there! (click on photos to see them larger)  Thanks to Byrd and Street for sponsoring this event!!

It was a super evening with the donations going to the Adoption Coalition of Austin.  This organization helps older kids and kids with special needs find a forever home.  Great people and do good things.  If you didn’t make it to the Jam you can always donate directly. If you are looking to increase your family size, they will help you find a great fit for some children!   Information on their website,

This sunset was the next night from our backporch.  The evenings have been so nice.  We have been sitting on the porch every night, but this week it has been down in the forties, so....  I think that will pass in a couple of days and we can get back out there.  Nice afternoons for a walk or sitting on the porch, though.

The sketches look good - as always. The Mistletoe Jam at Threadgills looks like it was a blast - oh to live in Austin!
