Persistence

There has been so much talk about how to make sales with art lately.  I truly believe that each piece of art has to find its owner.  That being said, your art has to be in front of folks.  I have sold art online to someone out of the blue, but that takes a special painting and a person looking for art as well.

My Bolivia paintings need to be in front of people that love Bolivia or have visited there.  It is difficult to get that audience here in Bastrop, so I have an online Bolivia category.  Other collectors might like a mountain scene or a rustic scene with animals and the Bolivia scenes might fit in that category.

Any time your art can be in front of the public is good.  Granted some venues are much better than others, but no one sees my paintings on the floor in my studio.

Get your art out there!

I will have an open studio  here in the fall.  I plan to have it in conjunction some way with a house concert with Byrd and Street.  (If you check their page you will see they will be performing at the Roadhouse in Bastrop on Friday, May 11, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The show will be great.  Check their other venues, too.)   They are both artists, too.  Tommy draws with ink and charcoal and Kathy is an oil painter.  We will come up with a good combination.  People should come, just to see our new digs if nothing else, right?

And speaking of seeing my art.  This is the last week that Pastels and Beyond with my paintings and Regina Burchett's paintings are at the Convention Center in Killeen, Texas.  We will be taking them down on Thursday, April 26.    I hope you have been able to stop by.  It is always so great to see our work all together.  My acrylic painting, Pears in Bloom, sold there today.  Thanks, Jo Ann.  You can see photos of our show on a previous blog post.

Regina Burchett and Jo Castillo exhibitat the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 South W.S. Young Drive, Killeen, TX 76542. Phone 254-501-3888 for hours the center is open. Show runs from March 5, 2012 - April 26, 2012. Regina and I have 21 paintings each there.
Pears in Bloom, Acrylic on Board, 11 x 14 inches

Pears in Bloom and the pastel, La Puerta, have probably been shown more than most of my paintings.  I'm so pleased that it was in Killeen right now.  I have had many compliments on both paintings, but it took until now for someone to find the cactus flowers.  It is good that I had it with me showing it in New Mexico this past summer  and it missed the fire, too!

Persistence counts, I just keep showing the paintings as often as I can.

You can always see a few pieces of my work at the Bastrop Fine Arts Gallery, 1009 Main Street in historical downtown Bastrop, Texas.

That's one of my favorites - I love that painting!! Glad you sold it, and not glad you sold it. :-)
And you're right, I agree - each painting is waiting for it's person.

Hi Regina, thank you. I remember how much you like that painting. Cactus flowers are fun to paint.
