I'm Lost - Sketches

Yes, I am a bit lost.  I'm not sure what is going on.  Probably the stress of this last year.  It was not the best.  I have been doing just what needs to be done and that is about it.  I evidently put all my creative thoughts into the new house with none left over for art.  It must be getting better, lets hope so.

I'm turning into a Friday blogger and really need to work on that.  Today is Thursday, woo hoo!!  You all know that I really prefer working on my blog compared to other social networks.  You can see, too, that I have been very neglectful of my blog and in return to you all.  I am working on getting my act together.  Hope it happens soon.

Sigh....  I'm sounding maudlin and don't mean for that to happen.  I just wanted you to know why I haven't been around much.  (I just looked up maudlin to be sure that was my feeling.  It was in a surprising way:  maudlin - adjective  self-pityingly or tearfully sentimental, often through drunkenness.  Ha!)

I sketched for Scavenger Hunt 264 a bit.  Today is the last day for this Hunt.   Sketching for the Hunts is something that needs to be done, so I have kept at it.  Even the iPad sketching hasn't been calling.

Number 1, corner- a quick sketch of the corner with the small table that Kelly Borsheim gave us.  She couldn't take the table in her suitcase to Italy it seems.  Thanks, Kelly!  I planned for it to be in my studio, but has felt good in this corner of the living room.  It is holding a few small paintings, a sculpture we rescued and some knick knacks.

Number 2, stack - the things I was sending to Christy, granddaughter.  She wanted some of the burned dishes that would have been a gift to her and some plastic cups and CDs they left when they were here for spring break.  Number 3, cup and saucer - one of those cups.

Number 4, insect - a roly poly on the floor.  Number 5 - tree, in the challenge method of scribbling.  Number 6, flower or bloom.

Number 7, toilet - a challenge method of blind contour drawing.  You look at the item and not the paper and draw with a continuous line if possible.  The Scavenger Hunts have been good by getting me to draw things that I normally wouldn't.  Good practice.

A few photos:

On McAllister Road going toward the old house.  The grass and small plants are coming back with the recent rains.

This is at our old house, the driveway will be straight now.  No huge pines in the front yard.  The oaks have a few leaves.  It is good to see rebuilding.

A lone sunflower in our front yard here at the new house.  We have had several beautiful days around here.  Nights have been about sixty degrees and up to the mid eighties in the daytime.  Perfect to have the windows open in the mornings.  I should have been painting outside.  Perfect weather for that.

Regina and I plan to get together next week for an artful day.  That is always good for us, too.  We can hope for the same good weather.

I painted a couple of small paintings in pastel.  Hey, I have another blog for Friday!!

You have had a tough year Jo, no doubt about that. We'll stick around for when you feel like it. :-)

And, I think lots of people have moved to once a week posting, I think the art web world has changed.

Take care - love ya! Rose

I'm struggling with lack of inspiration and maybe a bit of spring fever. Jesse and I are wanting to visit the Hill Country when she gets out of school next month.

Rose, thank you. You always make me feel better and inspire! I really like your latest flower sketching. Smiled when you said your son was counting the iris for you. : )

Bag Blog, a change can always help! You have a room here if you get down this way. Hugs.

Also, I can't believe that's the drive at the old house. Wow.
