Pointless and Photos

Pointless was a favorite word for granddaughter, Christy, a few years ago.  They say Friday is a bad day for posting if you expect anyone to read it ... so, pointless.  I also sent out my newsletter today.  Another futile effort perhaps.  I wanted to remind everyone of the Austin Pastel reception on Sunday and our exhibit in Killeen.

Here is a last minute update and invite:

Our trip to Oklahoma was just super.  After we left Norman and the baseball games we drove on down the road to meet up with Bag Blog, aka Lou,  and husband Toby.  A plus was that Jessie was there and we finally got to meet the daughter.  We had a great time seeing their new home, eating some amazing Jambalaya and visiting.  They are such a nice family and fun to be with.

Jessie made me a new mug to have a start in a new collection and a new berry bowl which will be great for blueberries, grapes or whatever.  I will link to the photo on her blog as it is a better photo than I would take.  And, you might find something you like, too, be sure and have a look. (My artist links for the day.) On second thought,  I will just grab it for you to see.  (Remember it is Jessie's copyright!)

And, as usual, I forgot to take photos at Lou's.  Drat.

I did snap this of the pond as we drove up to their house.  It was cloudy and very windy.

Here are some photos from the trip and this morning in the yard.  Beautiful at sunrise!

This is the Red River as you cross from Texas into Oklahoma.

The rain as we were leaving Duncan, Oklahoma.  Luckily all the bad weather missed us.  It was super windy coming straight from the south.  We averaged 5 miles less per gallon of gas on the way home.  Wow.

The redbud trees were in bloom almost the whole way in Oklahoma.  Just beautiful.

There are almost some mountains in Oklahoma.  Very pretty area.

The Red River coming back to Texas from Oklahoma, prettier don't you think??  :)

Welcome back to Texas.

Six Flags Over Texas at the Welcome Center in the strong wind.

Almost everyone has to have some bluebonnet photos, sorry for the blur.

More roadside bluebonnets.

We have had some wonderful rain in our area.  Our lakes are fuller and the green is amazing.  Here are some photos from early this morning.

The view across the back with both lakes visible in the early sunlight.

These are two of the new trees given out to us folks that lost homes in the fires.  They are both doing well.  We planted three, the other doesn't have buds yet, but we shall see.  They are chinkapin oaks which grow very large.  You can see a bit of the eastern most lake in the first and our street in the second.

Some Indian paintbrush in the yard.  It has been too wet to mow.  Nice.

These are just over the fence toward the lakes.

I think it was more than a few years ago when she was in her pointless mode.

"Pointless" works very well.

We had a great time with you and Gene. I was worried about you driving home in all the rain, but you were a bit ahead of the bad stuff. Your pictures remind me how much I miss the hill country in spring time.

Gene, time flies when you are having fun. Christy is always fun. She didn't seem to have a word this time did she?

Thanks, Bag Blog. It was a good trip except for the headwind. It rained on us only for about 20 miles or so, then just wind. Very sunny after we got on I-35.

We come down 95 from Temple and the farms and all are so pretty right now.

Beautiful day. Hung sheets on the line and have the door open. Gene may even bike today!

It's cool that you have Indian Paintbrush in the yard! Maybe you should throw some bluebonnet seed out and see what happens?

We will have to throw the bluebonnet seeds over the fence. The yard gets mowed!!
