Christy, my granddaughter wants the Monarch butterfly painting. I had better get busy and send it to her.
The Monarch, 7 x 5 inches, acrylic on canvas panel. |
Most of my paintings are in Killeen at the show. (Info on the sidebar to the right) I HAD to paint something new to replace the butterfly at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild Gallery. I have had a foggy painting in my mind for a while. I took some photos of our yard in the fog as you recall and decided to give it a whirl.
The result was this painting, acrylic on wrapped canvas. I will display it without a frame but I think a floater frame would look good on it. I will put it at the gallery tomorrow, March 31, if you would like to see it in person.

It has been beautiful weather, too. I sat out on the porch and had my coffee and sketched this morning for Scavenger Hunt 262 with my iPad and the Brushes App.
Number 12, monochromatic - the foggy morning with all the greens running together.
I'm still a bit undecided about sketching on the iPad. For sure it makes me think a bit. But is the thinking is more toward how to use the app, than how to sketch the trees? Hmmm. This is more colorful than I see it on the iPad, but I just had a thought, it may be the protective cover I have on my screen. I will have to remember that and allow for the difference. It doesn't look very monochromatic here.

I love this tree, Jo, and the misty blue background. The colors are wonderful.
Thanks, Regina. I had this painting in mind for a while. I will do something sort of like it in pastels. I just didn't have a frame and needed to get something up sooner. I did have fun doing it. One of those easy come paintings.
(Catching up.)
I like the painting a lot.
I also appreciate the sketch quite bit. :-)
Quite *a* bit.
Thank you, Joanna. I read your comment as " quite a bit". Interesting how our brain sees to fill in what is missing or what we expect to see.
