You can blame my absence from the blogging world on the iPad. I got one on Friday and I am still not sure about it. I have encouraged everyone to get one and now ... well. Maybe when I get it all set up to my preferences and applications, but right now it is just so time consuming. Everything I want to do needs an app or needs to be done on-line. We have 3G internet and that is slow for doing some things. It did sync with my iMac and iPhone so it transferred the apps from my iPhone that are compatable with the iPad. Some work on only the phone or pad.
I resist changes, too, so that doesn't help. It is like blogging. I so prefer that over other social networks. I have control over how my blog looks and works. facebook is a pain as it does it's own thing. Google+ is better, but Google changed Picasa to work with that so now my photos/slideshows are different. Sigh..... I am just getting too old and set in my ways for all this new stuff.
I did try out the iPad for my sketches. I still haven't downloaded "Brushes" which I am familiar with. Sketching took longer that way. I haven't tried iCloud so have to send my photos to my computer by e-mail which is slow. Do you get the idea that I am slow..... and impatient. I guess that is the biggest problem. Gene got an iPad as well so we have been trying to get both of the iPads set the way we want.
I will let you know what happens. In the meantime here are my two sketches for Scavenger Hunt 255.
Number 3, fingers and Number 4, art tool - iPad
Number 5, something used for laundry
Everyday life:
We went to Austin on Saturday to celebrate Larry's birthday. His birthday is actually today. "Happy Birthday, Larry!" He always picks a different restaurant to try. We went to the Buenos Aires Cafe. It was excellent and we will go there again. Larry is a photographer. Be sure and check out his website. He takes great photos and has reasonable prices in the San Marcos/Austin areas. Joanna, Jennie and Brandon joined us for lunch. It was fun to be with all the family.
Yesterday, we went to Georgetown for the reception for the Austin Pastel Society Exhibit. That was nice, too. The art looks really great. If you are in the area it is a great chance to see work by about 20 different artists. Very easy on the eyes. The library has a sculpture exhibit as well. We were there about two hours visiting and perusing the art. Thanks to Janis Langley and her crew for setting up the show and refreshments.

Jo, you are so funny!
I love the iPad, but it does take time to get it working how you want - I've had mine about a year.
Did you know that there is a blogger app for it? It isn't perfect, but it does enable you to post with just the iPad. And, if you've got the photos or the sketches on the iPad you can include those in the post. It's ideal for posting digital sketches.
You can also just start drafts with the iPad app and then finish them later on the computer - I do that a fair bit.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I enjoy your posts and so don't want you to abandon posting all together! :-)
Jo - your sketches look good and congratulations on having 3 pieces in the Georgetown show. You'll get that IPad down in no time, I'm sure!
Rose, thank you. My iPad specialist daughter, Jennie, told me about the Blogger app. Will get that soon. I'm sure I will enjoy it, but a learning curve. I did get a case with a keyboard so that will help for the blogs ... I think. Heh. Thanks for your encouragement. I doubt I would ever quit posting on my blog. I am addicted to blogs.
Regina, thank you. You would think my sketches would be perfect with "undo" and "erase" wouldn't you? I try not to use that any more than I do with pen or pencil. Ha. I will give it a chance. :)
When it comes to new technology, I'm no help at all. But I am impressed that you are trying new thangs.
The art show looks great.
Happy Birthday to Larry.
Well, Bag Blog, I had to do something. My old iBook bit the dust. I think it is the battery, but it is not worth spending big bucks on a battery. I was just using it for e-mail and to play cards. Ha. Let's see if I can get decent card games for the iPad.

The show looks great. I'm confident the iPad will be a hit in the long run. :-)
Joanna, they did great on seting up the show. And I guess the iPad will become just anoher computer. Hope so.
