We "may" close on the house today!!  Wouldn't that be great?  In the meantime here is an article that may just help your Monday.  I think we all lack confidence at some point.  I'm really working on that.  No apologies or excuses for my work.  Just be happy with doing the kind of painting I enjoy.   Now to figure out what that is.   Hmmm........

Confidence

by Keith Bond

There is a delicate balancing act between fear and confidence. An artist needs a healthy balance between the two extremes. I know artists who are extremely gifted and create masterful works, but completely void of confidence. I know other artists who have almost no skill, yet they are totally confident. Then, of course, there are those who are good and know it and there are those who realize that they don’t have what it takes. The best place to be is somewhere in the middle. [...]

After reading through  the blogs I follow, I found another article to help your Monday go smoother, too.  Scott Tillett  posted this article about procrastination.

Have a good day, all.

Confidence can be a problem. Some of my students are so worried about making a mistake, they have trouble putting anything down. Others don't seem to care what they put down. I just try to encourage them to go for it and make things work the best they can. Sometimes they bog down and want to stop a painting; I rarely let them do that. The bully in me makes them finish what they start - even if it does not work out.

I never give up unless the painting drags on. I lose my enthusiasm and it is hard to come back. You are a good teacher. I would sure like to sit in! Thanks for posting. :)

Yea - you closed on the house! Can't wait to see photos and hear all about your new home!

I love, love, love your "Salsa Stuff" and the calendar is wonderful! What fun that your painting made the cover and gets it's own month! Congratulations on being published and ordering your new easel!

Thanks for sharing the confidence piece! Now for the one that will really hit home - "procrastination" - I'm off to check it out! Having just made the trek back to Fla from summer in NC, I'm playing "catch-up"...

Jo, The confidence piece was a good one to share. Thanks for making it available. All of us struggle with it from time to time. Although I think those starting out have the most difficulty in keeping going. That is where it is important to have a mentor to encourage and guide us and help instill that confidence in our ability as artists.

Jo, great post. I always thing the balance is between confidence and arrogance, from my experience.

YEA!!! on the closing. It's a great house and fits you both so well! :-)

That is great news that you are closing on your house, would love to see photos of the inside. Confidence I find comes and goes as it should I think. If a painting goes smooth you can tell yourself that you are figuring this painting thing out and then the next one can kick your butt, lol. I will keep up the fight though, I have to because I love it so.

Rosemary, thank you so much. Salsa Stuff was fun to paint. We all need a boost in confidence and I'm the Queen of procrastination! Best of luck with that. You are like us, eh? With two places for the year. It is always good to get back to your home base!

Paul, thank you so much. I always learn so much when I teach. It helps me to help others.

Regina, thank you. We always need confidence and it is hard for me sometimes. The house seems to fit better every day. Thanks for the help!!

Barbara, I will post photos asap. I forgot to take any today until the end. We had our great house cleaners in today and it was shining by this evening! You are doing well with the battle. I love your new work. So keep it up!
