When I have my coffee on the porch in the morning it gives me a little time for sketching. I just don't have time for posting! Well, here I am making time. The dishes and painting can wait, right?
I started Scavenger Hunt 227, at the doctor's office in my small sketchbook with a Pilot ball point pen. This is the only ball point pen that I have found good for sketching. They are inexpensive and I use them at my desk, too. Nice fine lines and don't "clump". They even vary a little with pressure and last a long time.
Number 1, anatomy. I worked on this a while. Started about 3 times. It was a very awkward position to draw of the hand. I wasn't measuring well, couldn't get the forefinger and the thumb at the correct angle. Looks a bit like a robot clamp. Ha.
Number 2, blue - tissue box. Number 3, red - the waste can for the hazardous waste. Even the plastic bag was red .. guess that helps keep it separate.
The rest are all in the brown paper Ultrecht letter size sketchbook with the Faber-Castell PITT F pen and a Micron 05. I find very little difference in those two pens. They are 1/4 page except for the landscape which is 1/2 page. I sketch freehand as you know, trying to train my old eyes to see and let me put down the strokes quickly. I do think it has helped me for painting, especially when doing plein air. I seem to be able to measure better, except in the case of my hand above. :-)
Number 4, cute. A picture on a cup from the United Nations, probably bought in Bolivia in 1990 or so. I used it for several years before I saw the baby in the middle of the rabbits. Obviously I wasn't sketching cups at that time. :) I love those cups, perfect size and handles. I have about 5, I think with different paintings of course.
Number 5, phone.
Number 6, green - leaves on a bush out back.
Number 7, old - a meat grinder sitting upside down on the porch rail.
Number 8, extra - the newspapers ready to be recycled. Number 9, new - the newspaper of the morning. (Yesterday)
Number 10, landscape - the front yard with the flag.
Number 11, sound - a woodpecker in the front yard. I think it was a Pileated with the red mohawk on top. (forgot to make the background brown....sigh)

Wow. Great collection of sketches today! (Or, yesterday...today for me, though.)
Thanks, Joanna! I am hosting the next Hunt so trying to do a few now and then. :)
