I had paid for a workshop in Georgetown with the Austin Pastel Society for this past weekend so felt obligated to go. (Evil Grin) Joanna, Jennie and Larry took turns or shifts and took care of Gene for me. Thanks to all of you!
The workshop was great and I learned so much. Liz Haywood-Sullivan was the teacher. She was a wonderful teacher, explaining, doing the demos, etc., in a friendly and easily understood manner. Regina Burchett and I stayed together in her camper trailer. Very nice and I appreciate that so much. I couldn't find my camera until I was leaving for the road home, so have one bad phone photo of Liz and then some road home photos.
I haven't even taken photos of my work. Maybe later. I would like to show the difference in my two paintings. We each painted our same image on black Canson paper on Saturday and on white sanded paper on Sunday with an undercpainting of pastel smeared with alcohol. It was fun to see the different styles, choice of subjects and creativity. As artists we really feed off of each other. You know I use underpainting most of the time, but it seemed different somehow.

So back to the gallery today. I will be rearranging the paintings after Lester's show, catching up on paperwork, etc. I just can't work on my commission painting until tomorrow. Need to clear my head still.
The Longhorn baseball team plays tonight at 6 so I will come home and watch the game. We will go to the games on the weekend. Yay! Hook 'em Horns!

Hi Jo! Just getting caught up on your blog a bit. Sorry to hear about your hubby having surgery, I hope he is on the mend. Shame about you closing your gallery but you are retired and should be out havin the fun, lol. We are sooo ready for spring around here and can't wait to head off in our camper.

Barbara, thanks for stopping by. The closing of the gallery will be a good thing for me. I was worried that it would become an insurance office or something, but the Guild is taking it over, so still all art in the building.
Peggy, thanks. The whole Austin area is great, eh? We have spent some time at Dell Diamond in Roundrock with the Longhorns!
Bag Blog, Gene is on the road to recovery. Just a bit slower than he would like. Maybe do baseball by this weekend.

Omigosh, Jo, I spent two days with you at the workshop and didn't realize Gene had had surgery and was in the hospital! I, too, am glad to hear he's on the mend, and home by now.
Liz was a super instructor, wasn't she? I learned so much and had lots of fun, too- our pastel group is great, very talented, and I'm so glad you're part of it!
Susan, thanks so much. Gene was home with the kids to care for him. My brain is fried. I had a good time at the workshop but was exhausted when I got home. Liz was a great instructor.
I think APS is so much fun and the pastelists are so sharing. Glad to have met you, too!
So happy to hear Gene is doing well! Glad you could follow through with the workshop! You needed that after all the time in the hospital! Glad you feel good about closing the gallery - and it's good the building will still be used for art! Am eager to see your workshop pieces and hope you plan to post them!
Hi, Rosemary. Thanks for the visit and kind words. I hope to take photos tomorrow and post the results. It will take a while for what we learned to sink in. It was good to see everyone, it is inspiring to be around the other pastelists and see the great work.
