Big Snow of 2011 Photos

It is 23 F degrees outside, 27.1 on the porch and just barely 65 at my desk.  Yikes!  Not our usual Central Texas weather.  It snowed early this morning, a rare event, so here are some photos.  Guess it won't be melting until about noon, so most folks aren't running around.  There is not much help in the road clearing, salting, sanding either.  Never need it.

From the deck upstairs.

Gene marked the date.

Lower deck from upper deck.

View to the west.

View to the east.

The newspaper delivery track.

Ah, the sun is out for a bit.

No more snow so Gene put the flags up.
A little more sun.

The snow fell evenly, eh?

A little sun in the back, the birdbath is full of snow.
It is not looking good for the First Friday in Bastrop.  It will be below freezing and probably slick after some melting mid-day.

Hi Joanna. Thank you. Your photos are great, too. For you others, Joanna's photos are at http://www.joanna.org/photobox/archives/2011/02/

Bag Blog, it was nice to see, but I did not go out in it. Should have made a snowman, huh?

A strange weather year, when Texas has more snow than we do at 7000 feet in Colorado! Thanks for stopping by Brush and Baren earlier this week, Jo, it's nice to "meet" some new folks and get to see their work.

Sherrie, yes weird to have snow here. It is a little embarrassing to complain about 1/2 inch. But it is unusual and closes things down. I am amazed at your linocuts and woodcuts. Soooo much patience and skill. Thanks for sharing.

Jo - Looks like ya'll had about the same amount of snow we did. It was pretty for a change and lasted a day or so - cool!!

Regina, ours melted after noon on Friday. There was still a small patch on the back porch/deck on Saturday. Usually it lasts about an hour, eh?
