Yesterday was great. Joanna and I went to the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, mostly to listen to music, but enjoyed the wonderful art by many artists in many techniques and media. Wow!
We first listened to Ray Wiley Hubbard.
|
Ray Wiley playing his "steel" guitar. Interesting instrument, all metal don't know if it is steel. |
|
Lucas Hubbard and his dad, Ray. |
|
The Drummer, Rick Richards |
Rick Richards was amazing. He makes that small assortment of percussion instruments sound like a huge set of orchestra drums. Very good and fun to watch.

Derailers |

More Derailers |
|
Derailers, too. |
|
The guitar is silvery glittery and looked pink from the lights. Nifty. |
|
I loved the old worn boots. :) |
Then we went to the
Revel. Another WOW! It is so much fun to listen to classical music in an informal setting. Joel Becktell and Carla McElhaney are great. I forgot to take photos. Sigh...... They were in Llano tonight and will be back in Austin in February. You should try to go. I have posted about them several times. This post has a photo and a snippet of their music. They have a new CD out. It is fantastic. You can order from the website.
So it was a musical, artful day! Thanks, Joanna.

Thank YOU, Mom. I had a great day. Hugs...
Every year, I tell myself that I will go to the Armadillo Bazaar, but never do. Your post makes it sound so inviting, with all the wonderful music- add that to a list of SO many things I must do in Austin!
Hope you and Gene have a happy Christmas. Love, Sue
Fun pictures. Years ago, my brother took me to hear the Derailers and it was lots of fun. Ray sure is getting old.
Joanna, this may or may not work. Hugs back, I had fun. Thanks for the idea.
Susan, it is a good way to spend the day. I don't shop much so don't spend too much. Lots of great art and fun music.
Bag Blog, the Derailers are so like Buck Owens. Ray is getting up there and according to Joanna, does pretty much the same show. Fun to see for my first time.
I love the sound of the "Armadillo Christmas Bazzar." Glad you had a good time!
Catching up with your blog! It's been a hectic season and I'm happy to finally relax and check on all the fun you are having! Wow! Lots to see and read about here!
Hope you and Gene have a very Merry Christmas and a happy creative new year!
Hi Rosemary, Merry Christmas! I've been busy, too. Guess it is the season. Hopefully after this week we will be back to normal ... whatever that is. Ha.
