Ice in Bastrop

It is very unusual to be so cold in Bastrop, at least I feel that.  We can usually golf most any day.  Not today!  It is 35 degrees F at the moment and will freeze tonight.  We had ice yesterday morning on the bird bath.

Brr, ice on birdbath.

The water was still pumping!

Another view.

The tree lights with vintage icicles.  That means old!  I still have twinkle lights on the tree, too.  Not flashing lights.

My new pastels.  Thanks to all my family for this.  I haven't had a new complete set since 1999.

This odd little guy was on my keyboard on Christmas morning.

The monkey attempts to clap and does make obnoxious noise.  He is barely cute.  What was Santa thinking?

We mostly visited and played with our gifts.  I am so thankful and pleased with mine. I received mostly art gifts, magazines, books, vellum paper to try, music and puzzle books.  Thank you Gene, Joanna, Jennie and Larry.  We spoke with David in Kentucky and his family had fun, too.

So tomorrow is back to normal, right?  We will see about that.

That is some bird bath. I think the GGs would be in that in a minute. I hear that it is suppose to warm up this week. We are off to Lubbock to take Toby's Mom home.

I think it's high time that you had a new set of pastels! Hooray! And I actually think the monkey is cute- except maybe for the obnoxious noises part...

Glad you had a happy Christmas! See you in January, hugs, Sue

Brrrr...ice. Cool.

Bag Blog, Gene will laugh at that comment. The bird bath is very deceiving in the photo. It is a table top size, about 20-24 inches high on a stand in the yard. LOL Be safe in LBB.

Susan, thanks. I did need pastels and one can never have enough.

Joanna, it is still 42 this morning. Brrr is right.

Re the monkey, somebody once gave a singing fish, you know the one I am sure, Don't worry, be happy was his song, over and over and over!! Grrr!

Loved the bird bath thingy, what fun. We did not get a freeze here I don't think, although it was chilly,
Happy holidays Jo, enjoy the pastels and velour paper.

Hi there, Rae. Thank you for the note. At least the monkey doesn't make noise unless you touch it. The bird bath is from Mexico, wish it were bigger.

New art supplies!! Ooh! Lucky you! Hope you enjoy them.

I didn't get any art supplies this Christmas (but I did get a gift certificate for a knitting website which made me very happy) so I just placed an order at Blick and got what I wanted. LOL!!

Glad you had a nice Christmas and the gifts are lovely....umm even the annoying monkey ;)
What is up with ICE in Texas? We're heading for Naples Florida in a week and last year we had the heat on for until March!
Love that beautiful fountain.

Beautiful tree with the icicles and twinkle lights, and your bird bath is fabulous! So glad you had a nice Christmas and can't wait to see your new paintings with that super set of pastels!! Silly Santa leaving you a naughty monkey - but it is cute! Cold here in south Florida too...down to 29 degrees earlier this week! What's with that!

Happy new year to you and Gene! Love, love, love your blog!

Thank you, Rosemary. I'm not sure I can get anymore of the twinkle bulbs. They burn out fairly quickly. I have 3 strings of about 15 lights each and only have bulbs for 2 strings. :( I got about 24 bulbs a couple of years ago and still have a few. I will hate to give them up. The bulbs themselves go on and off so the blinking is very random. I just love them.

Ouch on your cold weather. You aren't prepared for that! We get a little every year and we have all our NM cold weather gear so can survive easily. :)

Thanks on the blog.

Happy New Year to you as well.

We had a little ice, but nothing like yours. Looking at the photo, I thought the bird feeder was about 6ft tall! So glad you got new pastels - always makes for a great Christmas!!
