It is the season in Austin for the
Armadillo Christmas Bazaar. An Austin tradition for over thirty years for fine art, gifts, music and food. I went Sunday with Joanna and friends. We took in the music of Rick Trevino and the Asleep at the Wheel Quartet.

It was my first time to see
Rick Trevino. He was excellent with a great voice and presentation. He presented his new Christmas album/CD, Oh Ven, Emanuel. It was great. I loved the rendition of The Little Drummer Boy. It was snappier in person, but the CD version is good and different, too. You can
listen here on his MySpace page. His Dad sang one song with the group as well.
I took more photos of the
Asleep at the Wheel Quartet. I guess because I've seen them before or just felt like it. Hmmm.

The guys were setting up for the show.

I was too close to get a photo of all four at once. That's unusual, right? This is Ray Benson, David Sanger, and Jason Roberts. What great musicians. We have seen Jason several times at Threadgills with
Elizabeth McQueen. More fun!

The fourth of the quartet was David Miller. Interesting bass.

Besides the music the interaction is always such fun. A tiny little girl walked up to the stage and Benson smiled and asked if she had a song she would like them to play. "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," she quickly piped up. They obliged! Pretty nifty.
It was a great afternoon! Thanks, Joanna!

It was great fun. The little girl actually asked for "Twinkle, Little Star" which was too precious. 'Loved that Ray said he'd be pissed if that performance showed up on YouTube. Heh. I looked...so far, it's not there!
I've been to the 'dilla and to Threadgills too. Sounds like lots of fun.
Sounds like a great time! Merry Christmas!!
Joanna, Ha! I looked on YouTube, too.
