I have been working on a painting to send to the lovely landlady we had in Silver City. She had three dogs and a cat. I rarely paint animals, even though I love them, especially horses. I was not ambitious enough to take on three dogs, therefore I chose the cat, Abby. I am not fond of cats, I have an allergy and I am especially bothered by Siamese (which Abby obviously isn't). I have never painted or even sketched a cat that I remember so here goes!!
Abby
Soft pastel, 5 x 7 inches
Abby is quite stately and posed for some lovely photos. She just sat there in the dappled shade and looked one way and then the other. I never received even a glance from her. I chose this over the shoulder look. I'm not quite sure I captured her attempt to pretend she was ignoring me, but I tried.

Jo: Very neat, I'm sure the Landlady will be happy.
My first pastel after years of not picking up a stick, was of a cat. You did an excellent job.
Heh. Studied indifference. :)
fishing guy, thank you so much.
bag blog, I haven't seen any pastels on your blog or page, have I? Thank you.
Joanna, I'm pretty sure we feel the same about cats as they do about us, huh? By the way my word verification letters for this: cuarto
Jo - I love the textured look in her fur!! Cats are so good at pretending we're not there!!!
Joan, hi there. Thanks. She is really fluffy, don't know what kind of cat she is.
