New Toy

Actually, it is more than a new toy. It is new for my work, too. I finally decided with a lot of pushing from Gene and Joanna to get a new computer.

I got a new 20 inch iMac. Wow! This is the first computer that I have bought brand new. Beautiful to work on and to see. I could sit and watch the screen saver with my photos on it forever. I was trying both my wireless mouse and the mouse that came with the computer. Mac makes it so easy to move stuff from one to the other. You just plug them together and the new iMac moves all the programs and files from one computer to the other. It took about 30-40 minutes. Then you open the new iMac and the desktop looks just like my original one on the iBook. It brings everything you have in your Stickie notes, calendar, address book, etc.

I will have to do my web page differently. I have been using an old Adobe Page Mill application that came free with some printer or computer in the past. It has worked well but is OS9 and will not work on this new iMac. That is one of the only things that has held me back. Up until these new operating systems I was always able to use most any program from past computers. I still have a game, Loderunner, that I played on the first Macintosh 128 we had. The game was on a floppy disk, something like 118k. This is from 1984 and still plays on my iMac at home. Amazing.

At any rate, I now have a new generation iMac and it is so fine!!

More posts to follow and I am sure they will include info about my iMac.

Jo, yeah!!!! It's lovely, so big and sleek. You'll be glad in the end that you upgraded, having old stuff makes computers so difficult. Have you thought about using sitekreator or somewhere like that, they have loads of templates that make it easy to build a site? Just a thought.

Rose, I have, but I have many, many pages and lots of weird stuff that doesn't fit in templates. I have suggested sitecreator and other places for artists. Easy and nice looking. I have my page on Cedant.com. It is inexpensive and I can do what I want as much as I want. They have added new software to the site where I can post my page much like using Blogger, I just haven't taken the plunge. :) Now seems to be the time. Ah, me.

Congratulations on your new computer!! That's so exciting - hope you just love it.

Regina, thanks. So far so good. It is much the same as all Macs, but I need to figure out the new perks. :) Fun.. It has IChat with the video. David says I can use that to video my painting. I will have to experiment with that. Hmmm.
