We took off today and even on time according to Gene's schedule. We towed the pickup again this year so we don't travel very fast. We made it to Clovis, New Mexico, about 500 miles down the road. Tomorrow we go to Albuquerque. Gasoline was anywhere from $3.89 a gallon to $4.13 a gallon, higher in the little towns generally. We paid under $4.00 each time today. I'm pretty sure it will be higher in New Mexico and especially in the small towns.
We didn't come that way today as there is no room in the inns because of a gasoline refinery fire some time back near Big Spring. The hotels are full of workers and will be for a couple of years. The rooms are more expensive as well. We could have gone through Roswell anyway, but they are having a big get together there for the UFO and alien watchers. Ha.
We hadn't been this way for a couple of years so it was different scenery. We come through Muleshoe, Texas, that is a fascinating town. Also, close to Littlefield, the home of Waylon Jennings.

Jo: Those are some great photos and the sketch is really neat.
The long trip through West Texas is what you make it - long and dull or interesting and colorful.
Toby's sister works for the company that put in those windmills. She is currently working on a project around Jacksboro.
fishing guy, thanks so much. :)
bag blog, after we lived in Lubbock for 3 years and I said I was starting to like the flat open country, Gene decided I was flipping out and we moved. Ha.
Those wind mills are incredible and soooo many.
I like the lonely feel of the land and the skies. Especially the thunderstorms, although scary.
Nice photos and good sketch too!! Travel safely!
