Susan's Painting Dream and some about mine...

You will find a wonderful article on Susan Carlin's blog today. She is doing so well in her new studio/gallery and that is so great. Susan always inspires me. I also want to thank her for making me take stock again of what I want and get out of painting and my art. I tend to do what she talks about and focus on what others are accomplishing instead of my dreams.

Some time ago we were talking and I told her I envied her. Envy is not exactly the right word. I just would love to be in that spot with a gallery and studio, who wouldn't? But that is not my dream at the moment and here is why:

  • We are retired, and I would not want to be tied to a gallery/studio with regular hours. That is a full time job!
  • I love painting, sketching and making art, but I also love family, traveling, golf, baseball, etc.
  • In this moment in time, I am very happy with our life .. just as it is.

So, my dream at the moment is to be able to paint when I want to, and do the other things we enjoy. We are able to travel and spend time in New Mexico and other places. We won't be able to do that in the future .. age will get to us, you know.

I will leave the gallery/studio dream with Susan and wish her the best. I, too, am living my dream. I hope you are all doing the same.

We golfed some this morning and now I'm off to paint.........

Jo, you are so right, you need to follow your own dream. It's good to know what your dream is - that's an important thing to think about.

Hope the painting went well. I for one think your traveling around and hanging out sounds great!

Rose, thanks. We are very fortunate to have the opportunities to do what we like. The painting did go well, post tomorrow, I hope.

Good post, Jo - thought-provoking... I was speaking with someone at the gallery show on Sunday, and didn't realize what I was going to say until I said it - but I enjoy the process. If I sell something, that is great, but I really enjoy the time spent creating a piece of art. It lifts me out of my self.

I think we all envy part of each other's life. And I think it's great to enjoy as many things as you do!

Oh, Jo. What a gift to come visit your blog and find this post. Your life looks downright wonderful. You know I don't get the focus on sports , but I know it gives you a lot of pleasure, and that's the whole point, right? James Taylor has a song that says, "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time, " and I just read Fannie Flagg's "Can't Wait To Get To Heaven" and that was the same assertion. Enjoying it all. Paying attention to what we have to be grateful for. You do that in spades!

Jo: Go ahead and enjoy yourself and retirement years. I'm glad you are able to get out golfing before it gets too hot.

Regina, thanks. One of the things I admire/envy about you is that you accomplish so much and do it so well. Ahhhh. I do know that you have a good time when we paint together. :)

Susan, you got this all started. Thanks. I don't understand the baseball either, especially since no family member plays, but we are hooked now. :) Life passes quickly so we need to enjoy while we can. You do well, I think!

fishing guy, thanks. It is already feeling like 100+ here, so we have to get out early. Didn't go today, hot and windy.
