I did not get the work in progress (WIP) posted. Too much going on yesterday. We have had a few weeks of spending. I guess our stimulus check was meant to be spent, plus much, much more.
First the faucet in the kitchen had to be replaced. Then the compressor on the air conditioner went out. (Ouch!) Last week the garbage disposer had to be replaced and Saturday we went shopping for a new refrigerator. Our ice cream was soft!! Yesterday, Joanna and Larry came out and they helped Gene take out the old fridge. Down a narrow hall and out the front down a flight of stairs. We keep soooo much stuff in the hall. A hall tree, trunk, bookshelf with tons of knick-knacks on that and paintings, photographs, and clocks on the wall. That all had to be moved. Gene did most of that.
At any rate, in between we had to eat and watch the Super Regional baseball games and golf. I made homemade flour tortillas, beans, New Mexico red chile, enchilada casserole and rice with meat. Favorites of the kiddos. Ah, we were also baby sitting the grand-dogs. Jennie was away and came back last night and spent the night here before going home.
The new refrigerator was delivered this afternoon, so we are slowly getting the house back together. The men that delivered the fridge were sure they couldn't get it up the stairs, but tried and succeeded. Yippee! We will now have firm ice cream and ice cubes. This last refrigerator did not have an ice maker, the first time since before ice makers. :) We have made cubes in ice trays for about five years. Back to being lazy! The kitchen looks different, too. The old fridge was black and had panels on the front to match the cabinets. This is a regular white one so it is brighter in the corner now!

Jo, this looks great! Nice job. You are a natural with the pencils!
Stuff always seems to break like that...in multiples. :D
Thanks, Rose. As I mentioned to Regina in the Cosmos post, I don't find colored pencil relaxing yet. I haven't acquired the patience .. I want instant. :) Thank you for the compliment.
I hope our multiples are done for a while! Surely.......
I like the colored pencils. The idea of taking them traveling is a good one.
Why is it when something breaks down, everything goes on the blink? We may be related.
Put me in the relate row too. Always more than one thing bites the dust at a time.
Another good colored pencil. How long did this one take?
Looks great, Jo! I'm amazed at how you can keep the pastel look using colored pencils!
bag blog, I usually have the cp in my art bag, but rarely use them.
You won't believe this, but the door to the microwave won't open tonight. Jeepers! I'm gonna' quit reading your blog!! That relation thing. :)
Jeanne, Yes, Gene was saying that they always said bad things come in threes ... how about fives! Maybe we are all related.
I didn't really keep track on the time, but it felt twice as long as a pastel. :) I had it by the computer and worked on it when I had a minute. That is easier that going to the studio. But also easier to get interrupted.
Valerie, thank you. I think that the Pastelbord does that. It has so much texture and I am lazy about filling it in. :)
Jo: Isn't that so typical, everything goes at the same time. They are just getting older like ourselves.
Excellent job, Jo! This looks great - and the most important thing::: did you enjoy it? Really nice, especially for not liking pencils... They like you. :-)
fishing guy, we were most disappointed with the fridge (a GE by the way). We have an old Hotpoint on the porch that has run since 1986 out in the heat. This GE was only 5 years old. Ah, well.
Thanks, Regina. Maybe the pencils will grow on me. I like the no glass part for framing. I might get some of those pencil sticks or whatever they are called to do wider strokes. I did mostly use the sides of the points anyway.
