I checked Scavenger Hunt 73 this morning, Joan Tavolott is the host. Her sketches are great. She uses very few simple lines that are very descriptive of the subjects. She is a watercolorist and adds touches of color to her ink sketches and touches of ink to some of her watercolors. It is her first turn as host and the first time for me to post a sketch first from the list. :) This could be because many people, not just the Hunts, don't post on the weekends. Interesting .. does this mean that most posts are done at work? Hmmmm.
I was watching golf this morning and went out between holes to sketch the landscape. I took the wrong pen, it was a brush pen. They paint thick and opaque so takes a super light touch to do hatching or shadow lines. I abandoned that idea and came back for the Micron005. Spent about 20 minutes there. #1, landscape.
Then I sketched #2, something that hangs. I worked on our artificial bird collection. A cloth stuffed toucan and parrot, a flat wooden parrot with the ball on the bottom for stabilization, a paper mache toucan and a little pottery parrot. All are very bright and colorful. They hang over my computer desk. About 30 minutes with more concentration on golf than art, I imagine. Tiger is 4 shots back and the announcers talked like it was lost already for him. I don't think so....... Go Tiger! He is amazing.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Love the hanging birds! Birds are haunting me at the moment!! Every blogger I visit seems to be doing birds!!! And of course, so am I!!! How strange. You've reminded me of the scavenger hunts too.... Nice work Jo. So art won over the golf then????LOL
Thanks, Marie-dom. Your bird sketches have been so nice. Mine are accidents. The only thing I could see from the couch that was "hanging" besides the usual curtains, paintings or photographs. Good thing golf was on TV, it wins when we go play!
See ya,
I suspect there's more "sketch" posting during the week than on the weekend 'cause kids are at home on the weekends...instead of at school. Maybe. For "work-at-home" artists, weekdays would be easier.
Joanna, I know it is family time, kids, relaxing, etc. But all my e-mail goes way down on weekends. :)
I get more done on the computer as we don't golf or run around as much. Ahhhh.
Thank you for posting the first sketches in my scavenger hunt! I'm glad you have those birds over your computer area. Then when you're waiting for the days when the posting is slow as molasses, you have something to look at.
Joan, that is really a first. I'm always behind. I procrastinate so much via the computer, I usually don't have much time to sit and contemplate. I should do that more. :) Thanks for stopping by.
Jo - your birds look great! Guess we were both thinking birds that night.. and it's more entertaining to do than completely focus on tv, isn't it?
Regina, it is more interesting to watch TV and sketch. I sometimes work on the computer and watch TV but miss what is on TV. Hard to read and listen to different things. :)
