Loop 150 Sunset, Pastel Painting, Donation

I painted a painting for the annual Family Crisis Center dance in La Grange, Texas. The dance raises much needed funds for families in crisis in four counties in our area. I always create a new painting especially for the dance.

Loop 150 Sunset
Soft Pastel, 9 x 12 inches
on Jack Richeson Pastel Gator Foam

This year's dance is:

Crusin' the Cosmos
An Out of Galaxy Experience
Saturday, January 26, 2008
La Grange H of C Community Center
6:00 p.m. to midnight

Catered by Baxter's on the Run
Music by Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88's
For tickets call 512 321-7760

If you would like to purchase this painting, just get tickets to the dance and bid away! (Bidding will start at my regular sales price. I always make a deal to buy it back at that price if it isn't bid on ... I haven't had to buy any back yet! I want them to benefit from at least the full amount.)

The Crisis Center, here in Bastrop, is "our" charity. Helping women in crisis and the families makes a big difference in our community. Family violence occurs in all economic levels and harms us all. You can help in many ways with donations of money, goods and time. Just give the Crisis Center a call and find out how you can help.

The next fundraiser is the Pedal Through the Pines in March. That is fun, too. A bicycle ride here in Bastrop. We always help with check in and Gene is a SAG car driver. There are lots of riders and is growing every year.

Jo: what a great thing to do. The painting has so much detail. It's amazing.

I love this, Jo!! It looks great - the sunset, the lights of the cars are wonderful! And how nice of you to donate it.

fishing guy, Thanks. Actually there is very little detail. I didn't have to worry about shadows to do the trees, buildings and so forth. :)

Hi Regina, Thank you. This was fun, I may have to try some more evening/night scenes.

Hi Jo
Love the new blog look! Your painting is beautiful. You make it look easy. nancy

Thanks, Nancy, about the painting, sometimes they are easy and come together like your plan.

The new blog look has been on the back burner since I moved it to the new blogger. You know it was your little push that got me to finally change it. Thank you so much....

I hesitated as I was afraid I would loose all the links, etc. But it all transferred nicely.

Ok, now that's a great painting. I like your changes. It feels like you could just drive right into the painting. I even like the event title for the alternate painting title: Cruisin' the Cosmos. Missed you and Regina at APS tonight. Mary Lopez did a landscape demo and STEAMED the painting. Whoa. Dramatic finale!

This looks like sunset at the end of a long day of work, when you just want to get home and relax. I love that peaceful glow of the sun. It's great that you donate a painting to a great community cause. The dance sounds like a fun time. Good luck with it! Raise LOTS of money.

Susan, Thanks so much!! We sat with our grand-dogs yesterday and I was so tired, we just came home. Sorry I missed the meeting.

I read about steaming and even bought a new steam iron. I steamed a couple and then forgot about it. Hmmm.

Joan, we must have cross posted. Thank you, it was about work ending time. :) This is an annual event and usually the only event where I donate a painting, I usually help and buy things instead. Heh, heh.
