Here is a sketch you haven't seen, I think, from 2005. On the highway between Socorro and Magdalena. Those old Ladron Mountains that fascinate me so. You can put in Ladron in the search box and see many photos and a painting. This sketch was probably done with a regular ball point pen. I didn't have any special pens then that I remember.

Kelly's Sight Size Method of Drawing
If you have ever thought about the Sight Size Method of Drawing and haven't tried it because it wasn't well explained, just check out Kelly Borsheim's post and see and read about how it works. She talks about painting shapes instead of drawing lines. I know that works. (Draw something with the image upside down, you have to look at shapes.) I may, that is may, try the sight size method on a simple scale. It should work nicely for a still life set up. Hmmmm. I probably don't have anywhere that I can stand far enough back except outside.

Jo, what a great link - let's try that. I've been working on shapes as opposed to lines and failing miserably. This sounds very Sargent too, which is appealing.
It is so interesting. Don't know how or when I will get to it. Good luck on your project in the meantime. :)
