Checking out the Disch (Baseball), Sketches

Well........ UT Longhorn Baseball is just over a month away. I am getting excited. It is going to be a hectic schedule with six games a week on some occasions. Whew. Lots of running around to Austin and such. The first series is with Virginia Commonwealth. A small school with a very energetic and amazing team.

A friend of ours, John Joseph, played third base for them a few years ago. We went to a game in Virginia and then to the Regionals they played in Louisiana at LSU in 2005. What fun! These photos were at LSU.

To get us in the mood for this year, Joanna has posted some photos of the updating of Disch-Falk Stadium. It is really looking nice. I like the Longhorn in the first photo up in the corner, like it is keeping watch. :)

I can't imagine I will be painting much from February 22 until May. Then the Big 12 Tournament, Regionals and the College World Series. I suppose my figure sketches will improve. Regina gave me a new sketchbook for Christmas with a band to hold the pages in the wind .. I will dedicate that one to baseball sketches and try to improve those rapid gesture sketches. This post will give you an idea of what I mean.

These are a couple of old sketches you can find here in my blog as well. Hopefully I will improve on these quick sketches. You can put "Baseball" in the search box at the top of my blog and read about the past couple of years. The Longhorns create a lot of fun in our lives. Go Horns!!

Wow you really are a sports fan. No art during baseball season.

Joan, you are right. Lots of opportunity. Because the games are so close together this year, I'm hoping to sketch more. Thanks for stopping by.

Jeanne, I won't give up my art, but with the games bunched, there won't be much time in between. March and April are really busy. It is so much fun that the times go by too quickly.
