I haven't done art or posted because of the move from SVC to LRU. Linda Blondheim gives some really good advice for artists and is/was a caterer and offers a recipe a day. They sound so good, both the advice and the recipes.One of my rare watercolors, sold
Todays art advice was about unnecessary competition among artists, her open class studio and a recipe for a macaroni and cheese sandwich. Wish I could try this. When we get home, I will make some gluten free macaroni and bread and try it. It won't be the same, so can you please try it for me?

Sorry, Mom. I don't think I can try that sandwich for you. She says to just trust her. But, yikes. That just sounds wrong wrong wrong. Mac and cheese (cold mac and cheese, at that!) on bread? I think I can live without that one. :)
Jo, this is lovely. So why are the Castillo watercolors rare, looks like you have a good handle on the medium? And, the sandwich, well, I'll have to think about that. :-) I do have some leftover mac and cheese in the fridge.... :-)
Joanna, I have always liked cold macaroni and cheese. I like sandwiches, so I think I would like it. :) Sorry you won't test it for me, though. Ha.

Rose, thanks for the watercolor comment. I am too impatient in general to let the color dry between layers and plan to leave the white. I do try every once in a while. This particular one did not require too many layers and I could just paint quickly. :)
I'm not sure about the sandwich either, but it will have to wait until the end of October. :)

I don't think the sandwich sounds very good either and I like cold mac and cheese. I asked a mac and cheese lover, Christy if she would try it for you and she walked out of here shaking her head mumbling something about being nuts??? Anyway have fun.

I like the watercolor and the cattle pens and chutes. I have a photo of soem similar pens north of Taos, NM, with the beautiful Taos Mountains in the background, but I have never painted it. Your painting encourages me - helps me see it with more color.

Alright Jo, I tried it...the sandwich. I used mayo, no mustard because I don't like it. I used some leftover green salad with red peppers and tomatoes instead of lettuce and tomato. The verdict...good. The mac and cheese tasted like nothing, but it had a good texture. And, it made the salad taste wonderful. Perhaps it was just a nice change from my usual PB and J, not everyone is on a toddler diet like mine ;-). Would I make it again? Well, yes, I would...plan to tomorrow with the rest of the leftovers. I must say that my three year old told me it was too yucky to try. The two year old tried the cold mac and cheese and told me "yucky Mama, spit out." Hee, hee. It was fun to try.
Rose, thanks, you brave soul! You saw what half of my grown children said. No way. :) I guess kids are the same, no matter the age!
People eat macaroni salad and like it, so I thought I would like it for the same reason you said, texture. I always liked macaroni and tuna salad. Hmmm.

Little did I know I would cause such a stir with my old college menu. It just goes to show that Southerners will eat anything with Mac and Cheese.

Linda, Thanks for stopping by. I pointed my grown children to your blog for recipes ... and art. :) As far as I know, this one has caused the most stir. I'm disappointed that I have to wait until I get home in October to try it. I'm too lazy to cook here. :) A slight problem is that rice and corn based macaroni is not quite the same as the old fashioned wheat kind. :(
