Need a Decorated Christmas Tree, Ready to Go??

Buy your tree and help some folks at one of our favorite fund raisers,  The Festival of Trees held each year to benefit the Family Crisis Center.  The event will be at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa near Bastrop, Texas, on Saturday, December 1, 2012.  There is a silent auction and raffle.  The auction features decorated Christmas trees donated and decorated by local businesses and friends.  You purchase the tree and it will be delivered all decorated for your home.  We have purchased many but last year it was great as the tree we purchased had tools under it and was the first tree in our new home.

The Hyatt Ballroom looks beautiful that night with all the decorations and trees.  They have the trees at the Hyatt ahead of time if you can get out there for a preview.

The raffle and auction offer many hand made crafts and other items, like trips, spa visits, art, play houses, and much more.  The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with music by the Peterson Brothers, a young dynamic jazz group from Bastrop.  They are exceptional young musicians.  A “Taste of the Area” with beverages and light hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Baxter’s on Main, Benny’s Texas BBQ, Chilis Bastrop, The Coffee Dog Expresso Bar and Roastery, Deli Depot, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Hyatt Regency Lost Pines’ Firewheel Café, Jean Lang Catering, Maxine’s Café and Catering, Roadhouse and more.  The Live Auction begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to the event are $55.00 each and are limited.  Purchases at the door are not guaranteed.  $25 of each ticket is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by federal law.  Dress:  Cocktail Attire, Semiformal.

It is so much fun and the proceeds help the families of our community.  Be sure an get your tickets.

One of the trees is donated by the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild.  It will be decorated with hand painted ornaments and under the tree you will find original paintings, jewelry, small sculptures  and other artworks.

I made a few tole painted ornaments to be included and donated a pastel painting.  It is a great way to start your collection of art by local artists.

Ornaments I made, painted on wood.  It was nice to find a gold acrylic paint so I did not have to spray the gold background, I just painted it on.  It looks good.  There is a little glare on the ornaments as I didn’t take the photo before I varnished them.  The painting, On Guard, is my donation for under the tree.

On Guard
Pastel on Pastelbord, 5 x 7 inches
Framed in a dark mahogany frame
$95.00 value

If you cannot attend, think about being a sponsor or making a donation.  The Crisis Center helps so many families in our area.  Thank you.
