Road Post, Sketches and Photos

I sketched in the car while we listened to a book and Gene drove. These are for Scavenger Hunt 171. I sketched with a Micron 05 pen, which ran out of ink .. it had lasted a long time, and finished with a regular Pilot ball point pen.

Number 1, from the car - the gearshift and the GPS .


Number 2, footwear. Pretty sad foot and my black Nikes.


Number 3, from my purse.

Number 4, from the yard - the pool here at our hotel and some of the planters and "sculptures". The pool is full of sand with the chain link fence still around it and the some of the statues and planters are laying on their sides. Interesting for sure.


Number 5, yellow. Well, I did this in Albuquerque on the 1st but it sort of fits. Roger's hat is a straw hat so I'm calling it yellow!

We left Albuquerque today on the way to Mexico to complete my dental work. The farther south we came the warmer it got. It was about 88 degrees F. when we got here to Sanderson, Texas. A small, no .. tiny, town near Big Bend National Park. We forgot it is Easter Sunday and everything is closed. Our dinner was wine and cheese. (Good to cut back a little after our binge on New Mexican food in Albuquerque anyway, eh?)

Our hotel is a little strange. We picked the best looking of four. As Gene was checking in a lady wearing sweats that were barely hanging on her large hips and an overflowing sports bra came it to buy soft drinks, she had imbibed quite a bit of alcohol before arriving and we were happy she wasn't staying here. Then the lady (around 45 - 50 years old) from down a few rooms walked by in a t-shirt and panties! (Does this make my blog x-rated?) I just don't understand folks.

I didn't take too many pictures in New Mexico, we have soooo many of the same things. :)

Near Roswell, New Mexico, you can see the mountains near Ruidoso in the background with snow on them.

This is in Texas, south of Ft. Stockton. Things are starting to bloom.

One of the cuts in the rock as we were getting into the mesas and hills toward the Big Bend area.


This is Gene where we stopped to take photos of the blooms.

The yuccas are really looking beautiful.

I don't know what this purple bush is. It had been pushed over at some point but is doing great along the side of the road.

Here is some Indian Paintbrush and yellow???

And, the lovely hotel and pool area. Hmmmm.

Photos Between Albuquerque and Magdalena, New Mexico

We went to Magdalena to check on my artwork at Peppers Art Gallery and visit Gene's sister. We took most of my paintings out. That way for my annual show in July, I will have all new work. I left the pastel painting of Evett's in the Evening as it is of an old building there.

There is quite a bit of snow around. This is the Magdalena Mountains from Interstate 25 north of Socorro.


This is the same mountains as we went up Sedillo Hill almost halfway between Socorro, New Mexico, and Magdalena. This is about 15 miles from Magdalena.


This is the last bar left in Magdalena. There were three bars open when we lived there.


Now my sister's in-laws house that is next to the bar was sold and has become a restaurant connected to the bar by a patio out back. We did not go in to see how looks, maybe in July.
