Last Sketches

Well, the last sketches for Scavenger Hunt 156. Today is the end of the Hunt and I have managed only 8. That is the way November went for me. Very little art work. I'm not sure why, feeling a little indifferent I suppose. Now I have to rush to get paintings and sketches finished by the first of January.

Number 7, jade - this new Prismacolor pen reminds me of jade, it is probably a little dark. Done with the Prismacolor 03 (black) and a Prismacolor brush tip(green) pens. This is a test again with the Prismacolor pens. I will be reporting on them after a few more tries. I sketch freehand and try to do them quickly, this was five minutes or so.

Number 8, jelly - substituted jam. This was completed with the Prismacolors - black 3, purple brush tip and finished up with colored pencils. About 15 minutes with the coloring.

Amazing Horse Pastel Painting

Mary Herbert subscribed to my YouTube page so I went to look at her videos. This is horse is amazing. Aren't you glad she stopped by my video? Wonderful.

I just added Cathy Sheeter to my blog roll on the sidebar, too. She does amazing scratchboard work.

In Route Sketches

We made it home last night. We were delayed in Houston by the weather. It was raining and we had to wait for connections as it was the last flight to Austin. Our trip was great. It was nice to visit with the "other" Castillos. We don't see them often enough.

I managed some sketches on the way back for Scavenger Hunt 156. I'm hosting so I should be sketching and commenting. I sketched in the reflexions sketchbook with a Micron 05 pen. Here goes.

Number 1, juniper - sub of a little tree at David's. Number 2, jet black - their fridge. This is a bad angle, it is a nice big fridge. Number 3, Jeep - Gene found this out our window at the motel. Good find!

Number 4, jet - a jet at the Louisville airport. The truck left before I finished. Oh well...

Number 5, jacket - a fellow at the airport in a jacket with a huge cell phone. It must have been an antique. Ha. Number 6, joint - the joints in my finger and thumb.

Another airport sketch in Birmingham. It did not fit any of the categories for the Hunt.

It is cool, well, cold, here so no golf probably until next week. That should give me more painting time and time to get the Christmas stuff started. We have the Austin Pastel Society Christmas Party on this coming Sunday. That should be fun.

I never have enough time, how do you busy people get by with the same amount of time that I have? Yah, I know. You manage your time better and do not procrastinate as much as me.

Some of the things I need to do.
  • Paint for the Austin Pastel Society Annual Juried Exhibit at the Corridor of Art. I do have one started as of yesterday. The deadline is early January. Yikes.
  • Order Christmas gifts or shop. Yuck.
  • Finish the sketchbook for the Art House project. Luckily (for me) they moved to New York and extended the deadline to Janurary 4.
  • Put up a tree and get ready for Christmas.
  • Sketch for the Scavenger Hunts.
  • Newsletter
  • A few cards for my art collectors, Gene makes phone calls for our Christmas Card list.
  • And the list goes on with regular chores, cleaning, cooking, donating blood, etc......
