Bowl of Ribbon Pastel

Items on Hunt 114 included a bowl and ribbon.  Just happens I store ribbon in a wooden salad bowl that is cracked.  This made a fun item for the Hunt.

Ribbon is fun to paint.  The crinkled ribbon was a bit harder than smooth ribbon.  Painting the light and dark gives the ribbon form.

I started this yesterday, but was sidetracked and didn't get back to it.  It took about 2 hours over all.  It is also on a new piece of UArt 400 sanded paper, tan in color.  It is hard to scumble on that paper in straight lines as the paper curls and doesn't lie flat.  It worked pretty well for this loose style.  Would be terrible for detail work.

Number 3 ribbon and Number 4 bowl - 9 x 12 inches, assorted pastels

And the setup, a little artistic license in a few places.  It was a challenge and fun to try.

  1. Ribbon is not something I enjoy sketching or painting. I can never seem to keep it the same width overall. lol You did a great job on this!

  2. Ha, Joan. I like painting smooth ribbon. The crumpled one was a challenge. Width is hard. I'm smiling.
