Yard Tool Sketch for Hunt 67

I sketched at the doctor's yesterday.  I heard a mower outside and looked but the mower guy was too fast.  There were two other workers, one with a blower and this one with a weed eater of some sort.  I had a little more time for that.  They were pretty speedy though.

Number 1, yard tool - the yellow looked so bright at first.  I was hoping for a fluorescent!  Watercolor seems to dull when it dries.  This sketch is for Scavenger Hunt from Life 67

As it happens, James Gurney had a short blog post about flourescent color that fits here:

Interesting, I'm still not sure how it works.

  1. Watercolor does dry lighter than you think it would. You can go back in over and over to brighten it up some. But the yellow of your watercolor looks good.

  2. bag blog, thanks. I do have some luck with the sketches and adding watercolor, not necessary to blend or mix colors as much. Small areas to color.
