Happy Birthday, Gene!

It is the 27th anniversary of Gene's 50th birthday, he says.  He was telling that to one of the neighbors and she was looking at her hands and feet, "Wait, how old are you?  I'm from Arkansas and I ran out of fingers and toes."

We celebrated the August birthdays (Gloria couldn't make it)  yesterday with 4 of his sisters, Mercy, Virginia, Prescilla, Sylvia, a brother in law, Ernest,  and brother, Roger, here.  Roger cooked ribs with red chile and papitas (fried potatoes), Virginia brought beans and homemade tortillas, Priscilla brought sopapillas and green chile.  I made a German chocolate cake.

It was a good day, lots of remembering old times and stories.  They could only spend the day, so it went by pretty quickly.

Roger left this morning to go back to Arizona.  We hope to go see him there before we go back to Texas.

It is a beautiful morning for a birthday.

Gene went for a walk and I'm fixing this and did my sketch for the day.  I sketched in the big book with a Pilot fountain pen, about 10 minutes.

For Scavenger Hunt 554, Number 3, room with a view.

Gene has received calls and cards.  Thanks all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GENE!

  2. Gene says, "Thank you, Joan."
It was a quiet day after everyone left. It is hard to recuperate after a week of intense painting. Happy you survived!
