I am the host of the August Challenge on wetcanvas.com in the Southwest and Western forum.

Artists are invited to paint, draw or sketch the photos I put up. Anyone can join in from beginner to expert. It is fun to see how the artists crop, combine or use the photos in their creations. What shall I paint, hmmmmm.
I sketched for Scavenger Hunt 551.

These are a couple of pages in the big book with a Prismacolor 01. I spent way more time than I intended on these. You see I even didn't finish the rocks. I did that later so the sketch will be complete in the book.
Number 1, flyer or bulletin - pottery gallery between Angel Fire and Taos, haven't visited yet, Lou gave me the flyer. The other is a map of the Enchanted Circle Route from Taos to Questa, Red River, Angel Fire and back to Taos. Beautiful scenery all the way round.
Number 2, fireplace - the one here in the house.
Saturday, July 28, we went to see Byrd and Street in Red River at a house concert. What a nice afternoon with super music and lovely weather and setting at Brenda's and Doyle's home. They had a meal after of street tacos that they provided with desserts and other sides brought by the guests.
You have heard about Byrd and Street here many times. They are great friends and musicians. www.byrdandstreet.com
We tried to see them in Taos on the previous Monday night but the venue had a broken water main and cancelled the show. We ate at the Yu Garden and had a short visit with Tommy and Kathy. They invited us to the house concert.
Next up is the Navajo dedication at the Vietnam Memorial here on Saturday, August 4. Nephew Louis Rey and his family will be here tomorrow night and stay for that. Fun to have company and show them around in Angel Fire.
The memorial is such a beautiful and impressive place. Here is a link to the ceremony and the official website. You should look around there. Such a nice and welcoming place.
Back to blog when I can.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

ReplyDeleteI bet the house setting for the Byrd and Street couple was great. It just looks relaxing. I am missing the cool weather, although it has not been that bad here. Well, bad enough :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer Rose. We had company so I am slow working on web stuff. I was thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteBag Blog, the concert setting was just beautiful as was the music. :-) Perfect day in the mountains. Sometimes the heat at home isn't as bad, as you say. Guess that happens when you know you can't leave. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWill try to check out the forum and see what you have posted for references.
ReplyDeleteJoan, thanks. You might like the cactus flowers and the landscapes. No people this time.
