Thoughts on the Texas Barn painting, acrylic

I worked for a short time on the barn painting today. Perspective is difficult, but to add to the problem you have light and dark strokes of paint. There is a perfectly flat surface that you are trying to make look three dimensional. The side of the barn is brown. To give the dimension to this brown shape, you need to add a cast shadow from the roof, horizontal lines to show boards, a difference in shadow color to show the far eave, a dark shape to form the door, not black, so you know there is an interior depth, etc. Every stroke changes the angles and planes of the shape. Also, because you see only a small part of the side of the barn, that

This was my start above. The boards on our right side of the barn are too light and make that part of the come forward and give a concave look to the front. Also the lines of the boards run up on the right and make the barn lean to the left even though the perpendicular lines are pretty good at this point.

You can see in this version some of the corrections I made. The eave on our right has to come down as well, but it cannot be the same level as the trees or that will bring the trees forward and create a tension there.

I did not take a photo of my work on it today, baseball was calling. I'm also going to do the flowers a bit differently, or maybe revise it completely. Who knows? You will find out here, soon.
