Day Out Sketches

We went out for the day yesterday.  We went to Schulenberg, Texas, for the songwriterserenade.com competition.   It was a beautiful day.  We saw Joanna, some old friends, and listened to some new tunes.  There were about 15 contestants from all over the country.  Brittany Ann Tranbaugh from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,  won.  Joanna's friend, Ashley Monical, came in second.

It was a beautiful day and nice to sit outside under a roof and relax.  They had food, and drinks.  There were T-shirts and music for sale.  We left early but had a nice time.

I sketched a little off to the side and forward toward the stage.

Number 1 outdoors - in the small Strathmore sketchbook with Micron 03 and watercolors.

Number 2 blue - jeans and shirts on a couple of patrons in the small regular Canson sketchbook with Micron 03 and colored pencil

Number 3 face - some hints of faces on patrons and a singer. In the Canson sketchbook with Micron 03.

The Longhorns lost to Arkansas again so were swept in the weekend. The Horns "were" number 1 in the country.  First weekend series they have lost since joining the SEC, Southeastern Conference.  Here is yesterdays story:  https://www.secsports.com/news/2025/05/reese-robinetts-homers-fuel-no-11-arkansas-sweep-of-no-1-texas

Only two more weekends of regular baseball then the SEC tournament and the Regionals, Super Regionals and College World Series in Omaha.  Hook 'em Horns!

  4. ashok, thank you so much.

Debbie, thanks. I don't mind colored pencil for a small sketch but I get bored with the "coloring" on large pieces. The Horns thank you! You have a good week, too.

  6. John, thanks. It is always fun to capture a moment. Hard to concentrate on the music, though. So when it is a favorite, I don't sketch. Ha.
