I took the watercolor a bit farther to try a self portrait sketch. One of the items on Scavenger Hunt 562 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1455908
Number 2, portrait - Me except I'm older, fatter, etc.
I could probably add some ink and perk it up a bit and cover some of the lack of expertise.
Class today and will have these practice pieces critiqued and have some questions answered. Poor Pomona! I hope to do another quick landscape for the Scavenger Hunt today.
The plein air group is meeting this morning out at 9-E Ranch with Joan Bohls. I wimped out, it is just too wet. My plan was to do the landscape there. It is a beautiful setting. There is a B & B there if you ever want a weekend of solitude with pine trees, minature horses and donkeys and other animals. http://www.9eranch.com/joan-bohls-art.html
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

great portrait :)
ReplyDeleteI recognize that lady! Watercolor portraits are very difficult. I keep trying, but I'm never quite satisfied with mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer Rose. I guess you can tell it is me, like in a bad mirror. Ha.
ReplyDeleteBag Blog, thank you. I'm not very good at seeing faces to draw them. Self portraits are not easy. We always show the concentration I think. I'm happy to not be a portrait painter!
