Hunt 502 Ending Sketches

Hunt 502  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1430516 is ending today.  I did get a few sketches done at the last minute.  Hunt 503 is posted and I am ready to get started on that ... sometime.

We went to San Marcos yesterday for Gene's checkup at Dr. Williams.  All good.  We went to lunch afterwards with Larry.  Always fun to see Larry.  We went to the Root Cellar Cafe and Brewery  http://www.rootcellarcafe.com/  .   It is mostly sandwiches with some pasta and salads.  Very fresh homegrown veggies and homemade bread.  Very, very good.

I sketched some chairs at the restaurant but didn't take photos.

At the doctors in the medium size sketchbook with the Micron 01.
Number 6, bush - out the window, looked like crepe myrtle, but bush size.
Number 7, box - a blue plastic box on the table, who knows what "tools" were in it.
Number 8, bowl - substituted the jars on the counter.  I didn't know that they still kept tongue depressors and cotton balls in jars.  I thought everything had to be individually wrapped.  Also some hand cleaner.

Number 9, can - a couple of tuna cans
Number 10, timepiece - I grabbed the rain gauge and as I finished sketching, I realized it didn't have time, just inches of rain and temperature in and out.  It is one of the other thermometers that Gene has that tells the time.  So another substitute!

I went for a walk this morning and took my sketchbook.  Thought I would try the new benches.

Number 11, unusual structure - the playground equipment at our lake (I sat at a picnic table under the pavilion at the firehouse.  Not on a new bench.)

Number 12, animal - dragonfly, is that an animal?  Or is this another substitute?
Number 13, roof - across the lake.  The roof is almost all you see of this house.

The playground from a different view.  I was sitting off to the left when sketching.

They are working on the culvert and bridge on HWY 1441.  I hadn't noticed that you can see the road from our walking path.

Here is a good article from Empty Easel about what to do if you are rejected by a gallery:

Good advice!

  3. Some of those sketches are pretty intricate - lots of detail. Very nice.

I haven't been to San Marcos in years. Well, we did drive through on our way to Gruene last fall, but I would like to stop and take a look around. Things have changed so much since we were in school there.

  4. Bag Blog, thank you.
Larry has liked living in San Marcos. It is another place that has grown in leaps and bounds.
