The flowers stayed on the table in the corner so we could see them. I was going to paint them again, hopefully in pastel. We had our Thanksgiving. Jennie and Brandon cooked the turkey and the main dishes. I bought pies at H.E.B. Joanna brought cake for Jennie's birthday celebration. We had a great day. All good food and a grateful day for our family. We missed the Kentucky bunch but were with them online.
I read or saw on TV that there was a big fire where a house had a butane leak and exploded. The inspectors said there had been a slow leak for a long time but the family had become used to the awful smell they add to butane to keep us safe. I told Joanna that if she smelled anything weird in our house when she comes around to be sure and mention it just in case. We don't have gas or butane but ..... Anyway on Thanksgiving she called me aside and said something smelled in the living room, kind of like urine. Yes, I told her, I noticed it and had sprayed with Febreze that morning. We didn't say any more but could not imagine where the smell was coming from. Just no way that we hadn't noticed it before.
That night I sprayed the carpet and chairs very well. I used a whole bottle of Febreze. I came in the living room in the morning and still the smell. I started thinking what it could be. What was done differently? I thought the only new thing was the flowers. Yep, they had developed a most pungent sour smell as they were blooming and dying. Whew, problem solved. I moved them to my studio so they wouldn't overpower the living area.
Hopefully I can paint them in pastel today and then put them out and out of "our misery".
I did sketch them in watercolor and added ink yesterday. I put them in the dining room for about an hour and a half. Then back to the studio where this computer is. The smell isn't so bad today or I'm getting used to it. When will we know?? After they are gone.....
