Pastel Quick One Challenge

The Monthly Challenge in the Southwest forum on wetcanvas.com is up and running.  I don't usually paint or sketch from photos, especially photos taken by other people, but I like to participate with these nice folks.  I painted a very fast pastel.  The actual painting was about thirty minutes and I would guess another thirty minutes of preparation after I decided what to paint.  That includes picking a piece of paper, cutting, putting on a painting board so I can work standing at my easel.  I paint with my pastels better when working on an upright surface.

In the challenge, several photos are posted and we can pick one or use any photo related to the subject.  Paint or sketch in any medium.  I picked a photo by Late Bloomer and painted away.

I also posted my powwow sketches from the other day.

You can watch me paint with pastels and ask questions about art at Art Connections Gallery in Bastrop on April 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  It is Yesterfest Saturday and soooo much is going on in Bastrop.

Yesterfest is coming up that weekend, starting April 24 with El Camino Real Music Festival.  You can get all the details here.  http://www.bastropdowntown.com/#!yesterfest/ctwk  There are 4 stages with different types of performances on Saturday.  Some of my favorites witll be the Peterson Brothers from Bastrop, Susan Gibson, and Karen Abrahams both from Austin.  Many, many others with folklorico and American Indian performances.

I guess I got too busy following the link and forgot to put a comment. For some reason, I struggle with understanding the website layout at wetcanvas.

Bag Blog, wetcanvas is very confusing until you have used it awhile. I made the link to the most current post so mine is there. I don't know if it will change. It is not a user friendly site for wandering around on.
