Baseball .. drat, double drat!

The Horns had a meltdown or something! Friday night they lost to Missouri 31-12, really! We are talking baseball. Today Horns lost 13 - 2. Joanna said of Friday's game, "Ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly." And today from her blog, "Yes, folks. Another ugly one. It wasn't as ugly as yesterday but...what could be? Missouri has now scored 44 runs on 43 hits in two games against Texas. That's just not right. Gibson ended up going 7 innings, faced 28 batters, and gave up one earned run on 4 hits (all singles) while walking 2 and striking out 9. Wow." The official stories don't say much.

Boy, I hope those guys can get it together tomorrow! Hook-em Horns!!!!!

Sad news

We are in New Mexico on a family emergency. My brother-in-law passed away after a long illness (cancer). "Uncle Paul" was a great guy. He was 74. We will miss him very much.

I will be posting about art and more soon. I did paint with a grand niece, Aubrey, yesterday afternoon. She is about 7 and we had a great time painting a pot of daisies in acrylics. No photo, drat. Maybe her aunt will send one.

Baseball at Dell Diamond, Horns Win!

The Horns beat Texas State Bobcats 5 -3. It was win #500 for Coach Augie Garrido at UT. Wow. It was a good game on a perfect evening. The game was played at the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express. It is fun to go see the team in a different setting. We sat in the front row behind the dugout (3rd base side, hometeam). They used all the Texas music, etc., so they were the true home team. I took a few photos, but it will be fun to see Joanna's excellent ones when she post on her blog.

The game started at 6:00 p.m. so it was a little dark for photos late in the game. No scoreboard shot. I'm sure Joanna got one.

This is a pretty big crowd. Jo and Forrest sit in front of us regularly and they are in the middle behind the screen in this shot. :)

Baseball, Golf and Kids

I'm not sure Joanna and Larry would be considered kids, they are over thirty, but they are our kids. Joanna was here yesterday to watch the Longhorns win the series against Oklahoma. The score was 13-7. (The official story here and Joanna's more interesting review here. Go Longhorns! We enjoyed the visit with her. We see her at the ballpark mostly this time of year. She worked on the computer and DVD player, setting up new stuff for us. Thanks, Joanna. She took some gecko/lizard photos, too. She will probably post them soon.

Our day was good today, too. We got in a great round of golf with son, Larry. It is always fun to have him around. He plays so well, but only gets to play once in a blue moon. Beautiful weather and good times.

The rooster on the run. He is camera shy.

Wildflower Closeups for Katherine

Here are a couple of photos for Katherine Tyrrell . She asked for some closeups. I'm always happy to oblige with more photos of wildflowers. (Joanna was here on Sunday and took some, too, and they will be on her Photobox soon. She has some there now if you scroll down and check the archives.)

Sketches for a New Hunt

A new Scavenger Hunt, Number 81, started today. I got a couple done, see what you think? A good start. We shall see how many I get done.

Number 1, birdhouse or cage; number 2, trunk of tree (challenge include knotholes); number 3, roof line of building. I sketched with a Pilot Ball Point pen that I use at my desk for writing. It is a decent pen for sketching, thin line. 30 minutes in the regular sketchbook. I sketched the birdhouse first and then realized that the roofs of the sheds were there and also the tree so I just kept on sketching. Lucky me.

Number 4, legs - yours or someone else's. You can bet I didn't do mine. About 10 minutes or less with the Pilot pen.
