Latte in Blue 2, Pastel Painting

This little painting is soft pastel on Art Spectrum Colourfix that is mounted on illustration board. 5 x 7 inches. It will be framed against the glass in a wooden frame that I have painted a dark blue. We shall see how that looks and I will let you know. :)

Gene bought me a latte machine last summer and I bought two of these cups. It looks so neat when the coffee is poured in and the milk comes to the top. We actually got the machine as my art buddy and good friend, Sue, was coming to visit in New Mexico and she is the one addicted to latte. I was told in Española, New Mexico, that what I drink is "AWT", a waste of time. I drink decaf with skim milk. Oh well.

I did the latte over again. Here was the first one. I took out the Bolivian cloth as it was too much for such a small painting. Some of the blue in the photo looks different in real life, such is the way with photos. I like it much better, I hope you do as well.

Tulip Cup, Pastel Painting

This Tulip Cup is finished for the show. It is soft pastel on Art Spectrum Colourfix paper mounted on illustration board.

This set of dishes was purchased in 1973 before our move to Bolivia. We didn't have a set of matching dishes and we knew we would have to entertain, so off to find something I liked. The name is Tulip Time and has a Dutch windmill and flowers on them. My dishes had to be blue and white. A no brainer there. My kitchen is red, white and blue now. The set is still very much intact after many, many uses. The cups are used mostly for coffee in our house. We don't drink much tea. I have a collection of cups, mostly mugs, that I rotate to use most of them. I wonder why old dishes bring on so many fond memories. I guess they have been around and traveled many miles.

Pedaling Pines, Soft Pastel Painting, Donation

Another donation for the Family Crisis Center. They have a bicycle race/ride, Pedal Through the Pines, every March. It is March 3, Saturday. This is the first year (I think) that they are giving a gift basket to the winner. This 5 x 7 inch pastel painting, Pedaling Pines, framed in a dark wooden frame, will be in the gift basket along with a bottle of Gene's Drinking Buddies Wine. Gene has been making wine for several years and the label has his bicycle and my Drinking Buddies painting for a logo. I always try to make something new for donations. I like surprises, don't you?

This photo is very blue. I think the camera is adjusting for the white tape that I had on the painting to hold it on the drawing board. I corrected it as much as I could, but the photo is still much bluer than the actual painting.

Old Texas Barn, Acrylic Painting - The End?

This is the end. No more revisions, right? This is acrylic, 9 x 12 inches. Here were some thoughts I had about this painting. I'm pleased with it now. It is more like the barn I envisioned. Hope you like it. :)

If you would like to see it in person, come to the reception at Daddy's Grille on March 17. Details here.

Pastel Painting, Out the Window, donation

The pastel painting was done with the new pastels that Jennie gave me. See this post. As mentioned, I always try to make something new for donations. This photo box holds 96 photos on lift out racks. The painting can be taken out and framed. It looks pretty nice and something different for the silent auction.

Wahington State 7 - Longhorns 6, UT Baseball

The Longhorns were ahead until the 8th inning. Shucks. A couple of mental errors and the Cougars won. Sadly the Horns haven't swept a series this year. What? You can read and see some great photos on the Texas Official Page. Later you can read the "real scoop" on Joanna's page. She had work to do, so didn't get her posts up. I took a photo of the scoreboard for Joanna and promptly deleted it. My new system of sorting the photos! Good job, right? Ah well.

Here is Travis Tucker with a hit. You can see the ball just before it goes over second base.

This is Chance Wheeless on his way home. The ball is between second base and the pitcher.

This is the first pitching change, Joseph Krebs coming in to replace Austin Wood, #44.

And a Southwest Airlines plane approaching the airport. Such a pretty color of blue, would you say sky blue?
