Texas 5 - Stanford 2, UT Baseball

Todays game ended 5 - 2 Texas over Stanford. It was cool enough and windy enough for coats and blankets again. There were people there in shorts and t-shirts. I can't believe it. The wind blew north to south knocking down long balls that might have been home runs. The fielders had a time judging where the ball would come down! Joanna will be posting her review soon, don't miss it. You can read the scoop on the Official Texas Baseball page. You can see photos there soon, scroll down on the left of their page to photo galleries.

I took photos of Adrian Alaniz and Randy Boone for the pitching comparison. The first is Adrian. He went 7 innings and struck out eight batters. Very nice!

Randy Boone is assuming the role of closer and has three saves now.

To add a little action here is Nick Peoples. The base runner is taking off. Sorry for taking the photos through the screen.

This is Chance Wheeless heading for first.

Travis Tucker scoring.

Sketching, cylinder

The new Scavenger Hunt on wetcanvas.com started on February 13. We were on the road to and from New Mexico, so this is my first item from the list, a cylinder. We were in the van yesterday listening to a book on tape on our long drive. I pulled out my sketchbook and decided my Coke in the coozie made a good subject. You can see by the first ellipses I drew, that the road was not too smooth. The top is quite a bit "off" but the coozie has a pretty good ellipse. At any rate, it was done with a Micron 05 pen in the generic sketchbook. About half an hour.

UT Baseball Notes and Photos

I haven't posted as we were on the road to New Mexico and back. We went to the Longhorn baseball game today at the Dell Diamond. Texas won, 5 - 3 over Stanford. It was a beautiful sunny day, but only about 40 degrees. Brrr. We were sitting out of the wind so it wasn't too bad in layers and coats. Ha. We did last for the whole game. I kept score since Joanna wasn't there. Well, my scorekeeping is very basic compared to Joanna, but it helps me keep track of what is going on. I rely on her when she is there. Nick Peoples made one of his spectacular catches in the 7th inning. It looked like it was sure to fall in for extra bases -- but -- there was Nick! You can read all about the game on the Texas Official Page and see more and better photos, perhaps.

To compare the pitchers' wind up on their one leg, here is Joseph Krebs. He pitched very well today. James Russell pitched 5 innings, Krebs the rest except for the last batter, they brought in Randy Boone to close it out.

Chais Fuller had his first hit of the season, a home run! Kyle Russell hit two home runs in the second and fourth innings (five this season!) and Travis Tucker had his first this year in the sixth. Ryan Seawell had one in the second for Stanford. It was windy up high. :-)

And, at the end of the game, The Eyes of Texas. Go Horns!
